Trevor Lawrence Discussion (merged)

The saddest part is we will most likely end the first franchise to ever pick number one overall three years in a row

We were sold a “bill of goods” with Lawrence. How many times did we hear that he was a “generational talent”? He is incredibly inaccurate and that is something that won’t get better with playcalling.

That pick in the endzone, the multiple over throws and WRs that were missed when open that he didnt see is why we lost. You are one of the only ones that cant see it. Problem is he's had more bad games than good ones. And doesn't really seem to be improving in some of the critical areas.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

The receivers were not drafted number one overall to revitalize this franchise. The o line was not drafted number one overall. Neither were the running backs. QB is the most vital position in this league. If you don’t have the guy, you’re not going anywhere. We got exposed today, not on defense, but on yeh most important and vital position in the league.

Since the Mahomes, Herbert route of instant success is out of the question, let’s hope for the Josh Allen route of bad to elite is in play.

No doubt it’s a team effort but our defense absolutely played well enough to win this game other than the dumb penalty by Walker you can’t put the blame on them. Regardless, our D held Houston to 13 points. In today’s NFL I don’t believe it’s asking much of our QB and offense to just score more than 13. As the leader and general of the offense Trevor did not do what was needed to win. The overthrows early in the game, dumb decisions, his apparent blindness on the red zone int, also his pocket awareness just is not great, he’s quick to roll out when really he should be stepping up into the pocket. Any competent QB should be able to win this game. I’m all in on the guy and just watching him throughout his time at Clemson I could never imagine this guy busting, I’d still like to think that isn’t the case but it’s absolutely concerning at this point.

Trevor wound up and threw the Hail Mary like…30 yards. He was scared to get hit. It was like he was running barefooted on rocks.

He’s had really good weeks and bad weeks. Today was a really bad week. (10-09-2022, 04:35 PM)SamusAranX Wrote:(10-09-2022, 04:30 PM)JagFan81 Wrote: I just don't get how it's all Lawrence's fault. Did the run game show up? Did the Oline dominate? Did the receivers make big plays? I get that, of course QB is the most important position but they can't do it all on their own. I'm just saying the whole team had a bad game today, not just Lawrence. Lawrence was bad today, maybe one of his worst games since we drafted him but it's also Week 5. Let's see how the staff and team go through the season before writing him him off. This team is better than it was last season and will get better next season. We aren't a playoff team but won't be picking #1 either. (10-09-2022, 04:33 PM)MarleyJag Wrote:(10-09-2022, 04:31 PM)Eric1 Wrote: Oh I can see it. He had a bad game. What worries me the most is the majority of the time he’s played, he’s only really looked consistent when he’s asked to get the ball out quickly to a designated receiver within 10 yards of scrimmage. Like in the two wins this year.
Anytime he has to make a decision or throw the ball medium to long he more often then not makes the wrong decision and/or overthrows the ball. That doesn’t fell like something that is correctable. They’re trying to implement this dink and dunk system for him, as it’s obvious they either don’t trust him, or they don’t feel like he can do anything else. He should be playing much much better than this. Also doesn’t help that they keep abandoning the run for no reason, and they get too cute with the playcalling, especially in the red zone
He needs to shave his head like Herbert did. Herbert has picked his game up ever since

He finally made a play today that was worse than the attrocity last year. That play last year when Marvin Jones and Treadwell both ran crossers in the endzone, MJJ was open but closely followed by a DB whilst LT was alone in the endzone wide open. Unpressure Trevor over threw MJJ. Not only did he make the worse decision, he completely missed his guy on like a 10 yard throw.
Today, he decided on 4th down to throw the ball to Evan Engram in traffic. Both Christian Kirk and MJJ were wide open alone for the first down. Could also say the int in the endzone was just as bad.. but that was laughable how blind can you be to miss two wide open WRs and throw into double coverage on 4th down. |
