This is a competitive team.. Competitive teams lose sometimes, competitive teams win sometimes.

Dominant teams rarely lose.. This team isn't dominate, yet..

Funny, just a short few months ago, most people on this board were DYING for this team to be competitive. Now that we have it, ya'll whine like little [BLEEP].. Losses are going to happen.

We've won big and lost close. Last year was the polar opposite, with the bonus of all the off-field sideshow to distract from the results.

Maybe we just need another Urbz type to absorb all the angst like an everyday scapegoat.

The biggest concern about Lawrence is that he had the cleanest pocket he's ever going to get in the NFL during the Texans game.  If you watch the game again, you'll notice that the Texans never blitzed and their front four almost never got any immediate pressure on him.  In addition they played almost completely in a cover 2 scheme, with (from what I saw) no real misdirection in their zone schemes.

Trevor did hit a few throws right down the middle (a cover two weakness,) but far too often Trevor consistently locked on to one receiver (locking on gives the defense a huge edge in a zone scheme as they're staring at your head), was unable to throw any one open (an absolute MUST against a zone scheme), and threw a few errant passes that had the possibility of being intercepted.  (There was a pass that would have been intercepted if the pass wasn't so far off the mark.)

Most QBs in the top half of the league would have carved up such a simple defense with all the time in the world in the pocket.  Lawrence seemed to play with 'ghost' happy feet, that contributed to his sailing the ball (even on some of the completions.)

Lawrence HAS to improve his ability to read the defense pre- and post-snap (not that it was difficult in this game,) improve his ability to cycle through receivers quickly (cause it won't get easier with pressure,) and learn to throw to holes in the zone before his receivers get there.


PS. If I recall correctly, even if Walker hadn't made the stupidest play of the game by roughing the QB, I believe there was defensive holding call that was declined.  So it would have been first down regardless (minus 10 yards.)

It was offsides/neutral zone infraction.  Would have been 5 yards.  3rd and 15.  Very unlikely the tinhorns convert as they really hadn’t been a threat for big plays all game.

Only with the deep routes in my opinion. In particular, from the pocket with the deep routes. When he's able to move outside the pocket, rollout, bootleg, etc. he's been fairly accurate. Especially with the underneath stuff and mid range stuff. He's a pretty damn good thrower on the run. He's done a lot of that this year where he'll get all the way out to one side of the field, set his feet and rifle it into a receiver's chest for a big play.

He just seems A LOT more comfortable running around and having to set his feet and make those bullet passes while on the move. He lacks touch and accuracy on his deep shots though. Virtually all of his deep shots are tough to get under for the receiver. I can't recall anytime I have seen him throw a deep ball 40 or more yards downfield where a receiver caught it in midstride. It's a lot of guys laying out for it or running underneath it and hitting the turf. 

Not sure what it's going to take for him to eventually get that deep ball accuracy addressed though. In the meantime? He needs to be running his [BLEEP] off when there's free real estate right in front of him to compensate for this issue this year and keep the drives alive. He has legs. He needs to use them. Not sure what the hesitation is.

Essentially the only question about Trevor (to the extent that there are legitimate questions) is do you think he can't be more consistently good, when being good is what we've mostly seen from him over the last 6+ games.

It's possible to believe he's already tapped out and will not get better in some ways with experience and time, but I've already seen a ton of growth from him. Like you, I'm not on the he can't get better train.

That right there is my biggest concern. He will show flashes that he's the guy and make some great throws, and then he will just Bortles it up and make me question everything. His deep ball accuracy is TERRIBLE. He stares down receivers. He forces the ball to covered receivers.

You can hand pick highlights out of almost any QBs game, it dosen't matter if he can make 3 or 4 good plays when he's got the ball 30-40 times a game. It's time to simmer down and hope for the best because as of right now it's been pretty bleek.

It is. Brunell, Leftwich, Garrard, Bouman, Quinn, Gabbert, Bortles, Gray, Foles, Fiedler Minshew and Lawrence.

Just a wide variety of QB play that's consistently broke the hearts of many fans. Every once in awhile you get those random years of optimism.

Lawrence could be the guy. Maybe he's just streaky. Sunshine Brett Favre is better than nothing. Two weeks of good play and wins followed by two weeks of bad games.

Will be funny as hell if he reels off two good games in a row in wins.

We also had 20 pass plays over 20 yards on Sunday and moved the ball down the field but that is irrelevant it seems. 

This fan base has just had too many rough years and bad games immediately turn you into the last bad player we had. It's been an abusive relationship being a Jags fan and it's weird this first bump in the road and it's throw it all away. You would think we would have learnt from doing that the last 5 years.
