There's a time and a place for running a long developing QB option run play laterally - and it's not on 4th and 1.

It is when it works. That's my point. Only thing fans hated about that play is it didn't work. Had he passed and failed, fans would have hated it. Had they handed to Robinson straight up the middle and failed, fans would have hated it. QB sneak and fail, fans mad. Only issue is it didn't work this time.

I understand what you're saying - and usually I'm someone who used say these sort of things too.

But, we've had multiple head-scratching play-calls over the passed few weeks by Doug where it didn't make sense situationally to run what we did (i.e. shotgun runs on goalline plays, 4th and 1 spread looks, etc).

You have a point, but statistically we need to run the best play to convert on those crucial game-defining drives.

No pass rush.

They are getting there but Ryan keeps stepping up. They are taking their rush too deep and haven't adjusted. Pressure up the middle and he is throwing it away quickly.
