You know what a train wreck looks like and this ain't it. These games are good, hard fought and go down to the wire. We're losing in the last 2 minutes instead of the first 2 like last year. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Yep, we're getting to the "Who can we draft" phase of the season already. Bleh.

When was the last time you saw a Jags team go on a 18 play, 84 yard, 10 minute TD drive to take the lead late in the 4th? Past Jag teams aren't doing that. If the win/loss record is full of Ls, it doesn't matter how closely they were fought, they're losses. The last two were gained by losing to two of the worst teams in the league. How close would we have been against Buffalo or Kansas City? As I said, I'll keep a larger reserve of hope for more wins because we have better coaches. I think it's obvious now we have a deeper talent deficit than we anticipated. After our two wins, other teams game planned and we have no answer because we simply don't have the talent to respond. Trevor isn't developing as we hoped but given last year, he's allowed the benefit of the doubt. Which brings me to my next complaint. Why is Pederson removing the run game in the 2nd quarter? He does it every single game. Why not keep the run game going to build a lead and then let Trevor explore his passing game? I get the impression Pederson is putting the screws to Lawrence in order to get him to step up his game. As he said, Trevor is allowed a time to get his feet under him, but not for much longer. Which is fine, but in the act of trying to get Trevor passing more, he's abandoning the one element of our offense that is performing well.
An L does = an L but a 'train wreck' does not = a last minute loss.

I get what you're saying but those two teams are the level everyone is trying to achieve. Looking at the standings so far, in the AFC the Bills are 5-1, KC 4-2, Jets 4-2 and then nearly everyone else is 3-3 or 3-2 or 2-4. It's an incredibly even league this year. Even Brady and Rodgers are 3-3. The SB champ Rams are 3-3. Every team have their strengths and weaknesses this year. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Also, this season has been the definition of "Any Given Sunday". Like 6 underdogs won today.
I'm just venting because these are the games we should be winning. We'll get it together eventually, but it seems like a game of whack-a-mole. It's a different phase of the game every week. What the hell happened to our D today?
Bottom line is the Jags aren't very good. Losing by 1 or by 31, they're still losing. Again.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

It's been a very weird year. Jets 4-2, Giants 5-1, like I said Bucs, Packers, Rams 3-3. But this is why it's the best sport in the world, genuine parity and competitiveness means any of 10 teams could win it and another 5 could come out of nowhere Can't sat I'm looking forward to that Chiefs match up but we beat the Bill's 6-0 last year! It's the fact they've been close games and either stupid mistakes or bad plays or execution has been what killed us, not necessarily the other team actually beating us. We beat the Colts and Chargers by playing smart, mistake free football but we make that seem so hard to do at times.
One thing is for sure, I would feel better with some sage words from Bullseye. I sure hope he's okay.

I think we're not used to seeing competitive football here and this is what competitive football looks like at the NFL level. You're going to have your heart ripped out of your chest in close losses when you have a new staff in place with a lot of new faces also trying to learn their system, their roles and building that chemistry they need to be clutch. Jack Del Rio was 5 - 11 his first year here. Then they went 9 - 7, 12 - 4, 8 - 8, 11 - 5. There's going to be growing pains man. That's the price you have to pay for a competent product. I am just glad this team is not getting absolutely buried or left out to rot in first halves of games this year. It's a step in the right direction. The success will come. As Lawrence and Pederson develop and learn together, the rest of the team will follow suit. They just have to keep building around him. We're going to need more pieces for sure. We're hurting on the front lines defensively, I think, unfortunately, there's still more work to be done on the offensive line, the secondary also needs to be addressed and as much as I like Marvin Jones, Zay Jones & Christian Kirk? Have to admit. We really do need a bigger target on the outside for Lawrence at WR. I still think they can pull out six wins this year. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. And nobody expected us to be very good this season. If you did you were just fooling yourself. They look exactly like the team many of us thought they would this year. A 6 or 7 win team who is competitive and fights till the very end. |
