They traded for him because they had a need after their starting RB went down, and apparently, he isn't killing it in NY enough that coaches even feel the need to use use him regardless of next year's draft. If you feel like your team is good enough to make the playoffs the smart thing to do would be doing it and only give up a 6th instead of a 5th and have James healthy for a playoff run when that 5th is out of reach and he will also know the playback better. (This post was last modified: 12-01-2022, 03:35 PM by HURRICANE!!!. Edited 1 time in total.)
25 carries for 75 yards = 3.0 yards per carry.
Carter has 3.7 yards per carry (on 99 attempts) and Ty Johnson has 6.6 yards per carry (on 14 attempts). Call me crazy but perhaps the Jets can do math and came to the simple conclusion that 3.7 ypc and 3.9 ypc is better than 3.0 ypc

(12-01-2022, 03:36 PM)scottyg Wrote:It was likely discussed before they even made the trade. They knew he was dealing with the knee injury when they made the trade. If he was putting up over 100 yrds a game they would likely say F it let's just play him. When all the back are averaging under 4 ypc. they likely agreed to get him healthy for the late season playoff push and only have to give up the 6th. They lost 2 of their top 3 lineman and their oline is trash kinda like the Steelers. If Najee Harris was on a different team I think he would be one of the best backs in the league.(12-01-2022, 03:32 PM)flgatorsandjags Wrote: Or they feel is isn't the one player that is make or break the playoffs for them. If our 6th round pick becomes a better player than JRob then I'll admit I was wrong, with that said we got lucky the Rams released Henderson. Henderson is a damn good back as well. Its possible, I think that's why we traded him. Said he threw a tablet on the sideline when he wasn't in and I'm sure Doug didn't like that. He just said he's pissed about not playing after the team just won a big game, not a good look but I see what he's saying. GOLD I listened to an interview with his college coach after we signed him and the guy couldn't stop gushing about him being an unselfish, team first player who loved football. I doubt it was a personality/behavior thing. I think Pederson wasn't thrilled with the speed issue, they knew the knee was problematic, and Baalke is just Baalke. That was enough. JR got a raw deal in the end here, but I hope he gets a chance to resurrect his career. Really good running back even if he doesn't have a 5th gear to shift into. Why wouldnt you want the higher pick and can have him fresh for a late playoff push and make sure hes fresh along with more time to allow for the knee? If he stays inactive the rest of the season obviously that wasnt the case. Lets see what happens the rest of the season. |
