Because Jaguars is our mantra

I wonder if this means that the OP was correct...hmm...
After meeting with HC Gus, Gerhart said: "I belong here." ![]() Quote:We are currently sitting around 48M and have Clemons, Thurmond, Willie Young, Ziggy Hood, Emmanuel Sanders, and Chris Clemons either on their way for a visit, in a visit, or have visited. We are #3/#4 on the list with most cap room, so no, we won't finish FA with the most cap room. Well crap, what will he have to complain about then?
Some entrepreneur on this board needs to get with Gus to patent a bobble head doll that says things like:
"I'm so fired up right now." "Hey, look, we just gotta keep getting better every day." "I'm so proud of you right now." "Do your job!"
Only a chump boos the home team!

Lol at Gus Bradley being a "closer."
Not sure how you could even make that conclusion. If we were in a public bidding war for a high profile free agent, and we won the deal even though we offered less, I would call him a "closer." But without that information, I'm not sure I would say that just yet. I do agree that he has a magnetism that seems to draw people in. But I wouldn't say he's closed any big deals yet.
Quote:Lol at Gus Bradley being a "closer." Apparently you missed our signing of the backup LB from Tampa Bay. Quote:Lol at Gus Bradley being a "closer." If you've listened to any of the pressers given by the new acquisitions, every one of them has talked about how impressed they were with Gus Bradley. It's got nothing to do with the money. That's always going to be the driving factor for players. But, if all else is equal, then it can come down to the coach. It's not about how "big" the deal is. It's about having an advantage in the event we do get into a bidding war over a player. I see Gus as a huge advantage for this team in drawing players in. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:Apparently you missed our signing of the backup LB from Tampa Bay. I get that you are trying to be funny. But he had offers from other teams and chose to sign here. Quote:Apparently you missed our signing of the backup LB from Tampa Bay. oooooh I get it. Not a big name equals bad signing. gotcha ![]()
Quote:I get that you are trying to be funny. But he had offers from other teams and chose to sign here. How does that differ from what other teams do? Can't the "closer" term apply to the other 31 head coaches?
That also means big name = good signing. Like when the Seahawks signed Sidney Rice. Or the Skins signed Albert Haynesworth.
Only a chump boos the home team!

Quote:Lol at Gus Bradley being a "closer." Spot on.
Quote:oooooh I get it. Not a big name equals bad signing. gotcha Not a bad signing. We're in a transition period and step #1 is to get faster. I understand that. I'm not in to spending $12m/year because we're not close enough for 1 or 2 players to make a difference. I'm ok with Watson but to label Bradley as the Closer was kind of funny.

The Eagles "Dream Team" Year, last years Dolphins team, The year the Browns spent tons of money on the offensive line....I'm sure there's more.

The Eagles "Dream Team" Year, last years Dolphins team, The year the Browns spent tons of money on the offensive line....I'm sure there's more. I agree that you need a blend of free agents/ drafting and trading to generate a top level roster. However, wheres our "top level FA" type signings? (and please don't say Clemons, he's 33 and coming off an ACL from 2 years ago which no one knows if he'll be able to reach double digit QB sacks again). The Jags have cornered the market with these low level and perhaps mid level signings-(Clemons/ Beadles), but they have yet to make even one high profile free agent signing (or trade) (or draft pick, really...) in Caldwell's tenure. ....kinda resembles a "base-hit" strategy. Now where have I heard that before?
Like someone else said, just because a bunch of second tier guys say they like the guy doesn't mean he's drawing in great players.
I fully expect everyone to say they're drinking the kool-aid when they just signed and have nothing but good things to say. Does anyone really believe any of this stuff? |
