As a guy who loves to see clean stats, that did hurt a little bit. But it's excuseable when you're throwing 4 tds and leading comeback drives. He only has 7 on the year which is awesome, only thing i'd like to see him work on now is the butter finger fumbles.

He needs to run more on the options, and he needs to get better at settling down once he's escaped pressure. He's definitely getting better at the second part, but there's still room for improvement. He also still throws the occasional ball off his back foot, but that's also improving. He's the real deal, though.

When he came out of college, my main concern was that he didn't throw his receivers open, but he's gotten so much better at that this year. It's awesome to watch him ascending.

Doug needs to send Trevor to a Jumbo Shrimp training day so they can teach him how to slide.

During the game his run and fumble was in my direct line of sight. After he had the first down I was yelling “slide!”.
Hopefully he has that moment filed in his brain as ‘lesson learned’.

That was truly an awesome throw and moment. We need to cut down on the drops, but I really like our receivers and how they pair with pederson’s offense. They are professionals who know their route trees and how to get open. So different to watch them compared to our group last year.

And you just admitted your mistake, though you don't even realize it. You really just can't help yourself because you still think you were right.

It's the fantasy football effect.  If a player doesn't "produce" in fantasy, they must suck.  And if you don't "produce" in year 1 like Herbert, you must not be as good as him or have anywhere near his potential.  

Some of us could tell what we were watching in Lawrence last year.  Like anything else, if your process is good, the end result (stats) will come eventually.  Lawrence routinely kept his eyes down field, seemed unrattled in the pocket with chaos regularly inches away, could make every throw even the wow ones, took ownership of his results, never threw anyone under the bus etc. etc. etc....  He has been everything you want in a face of the franchise QB since day 1.  The stats weren't necessarily consistently there last year and there's a number of reasons for that, but his process was already there and was getting better even last year though it wasn't necessarily showing up in the stat and win columns.  He's not only the face of the franchise now, he's probably going to be one of a few face's of the league moving forward.

Most football stats are really tied to more than one person.  If you're a stat boy, baseball is better sport for looking at a stat sheet and being confident that the numbers you're looking at are pretty much the sole responsibility of the player they are generated by and assigned to.  You have to watch football and understand what you're watching beyond the end result of the play to have informed opinions on how good a player is or will be.  It's much easier to look at a baseball player's numbers and form conclusions on their ability without having watched them.

1st off. thanks!  I'm a kid of the 90s.

2nd...

I get it, a lot of you guys have mad respect for Coughlin.  I just don't.  

But I can understand why you respect him so much.  I didn't grow up in Jacksonville.  I grew up a Marino die hard and I lived most my life in the rocky mountains.  I didn't move to the Jacksonville area untill 2007.  And that's when I became a die hard Jaguar fan.

So for me, Coughlin was never someone to be praised.  Yeah, he was a good HC for the Giants, but that's all he is for me (and probably many others).  The effect Coughlin had as the EVP for Shad Khan is all most of us 2007 and beyond jaguars fans know.  

As an older guy, I know he's a decent person and a good family man.  And I respect that.  But that doesn't mean I can't lament and criticize his professional failures when he came back to the Jaguars.  It's fair to praise the private person and yet criticize the public man's failures.  

That's just how life works.

I was born in 1985. I never really watched Walter Payton play or the 70s Steelers but I still have respect for them. There is way more out there than just what we have experienced in our lifetime. 

So while you hate Coughlin for what he did in 2015 or 2017, the history for him goes further back and he's one of the most important people for this organization. You also may not remember Jimmy Smith or Keenan or Fred or Brunell but their impact on this franchise will last forever.
