Jags Saturday night 8:15
|
The titans blow right now. They have a bottom barrel backup qb starting and they'll be in our house. I haven't been this confident in a jags beat down in years.

Just really quick... You do know what Derrick Henry normally does to us? I mean, you get that right? You are making it sound like "155 all purpose yards" is such a domination.... Henry is capable of 200+ and multiple TDs. We held him to "155" and only 1 TD. And the vast majority was in the 1st Quarter. We shut him down for 3 quarters. Come on. I know you watched that game. WE shut him down on December 11th. And you know it. Based on history, what happened in Nashville this past December is absolutely a nuetralization of King Henry. I'm not sure why you are acting like the way our D absolutely took out Henry in that game is something to ignore. You spent another thread eating crow about how our D actually has stepped up. You ate crow about how you were wrong regarding the Defense and it's ability to adjust. And yet here you are, acting as though what we did to Henry on December 11th was nothing and should be ignored. Not me. I have confidence in this team, and I think if we can hold Henry to only 100 yards than that's a win. If Henry only scores 1 TD and isn't a factor in the 2nd half, than that should be praised upon and our D should consider that a win. King Henry has decimated out teams for years when everything was on the line. Our D has a clear assignment. And I don't know why you are ignoring how important it is to keep Henry under 200 and less than 2 TDs. If Henry is over 200 and more than 2 TDs, we're in for a long night. What I'm saying isn't even controversial. It's just how it's always been. UNTILL SATURDAY NIGHT, BABY!!! It's time to show them that we can stop Henry. That's gonna be the nail in the tack coffin.

OK 11 yards per touch is "shutting him down" I guess. Good to know. I find it 100% foolish to reference what some other Jags team allowed from the guy as it has absolutely ZERO bearing on the game this week... but since you bring it up, there are 5 games in our matchup history wherein he was held to under 4 yards per carry instead of the 7.1 we gave up a few weeks ago.
I hope Doug P shows the players Part 2 of the Titans video before the game and the players come out extra pissed off

Had 117 yrds rushing in the first quarter and that one run in the 2nd combined. Outside of that he did nothing on the ground with 121 rushing yards on the day. Thats why they went away from the run. If the run game was working you can bet Tenn. would of continued to run the ball because thats what they do. He had 119 rushing yards in the first half. I stand corrected on a Jag franchise record in the first quarter, it was a personal record for Henry. Henry got shut down from the 2nd quarter on, hopefully we can play him like we did for that last 3 quarters.(01-03-2023, 12:00 PM)carp8dm Wrote: LOL! I'd love for that to be true, but it just isn't. Henry had 3 carries for 23 yards and a reception for 16 in the 2nd Q before the fumble. Why would you call that shutting him down? Unless you mean his coach and coordinator shut him down. They should have fed him more. Literally the only drive he was shut down on by our defense was the tacks first possession of the second half. They stuffed him twice, Tenn. was backed up by a penalty, Tannehill was sacked, and they punted. That's it. That was the only instance in that whole game that he was "shut down" by our defense. It was nice work by our defense and really good timing to do make stops on that drive, but it doesn't equate to Henry being "shut down by our defense from the second quarter on." It was quickly 27-17 halfway into the third and the tacks abandoned the run.

Has Quarterman earned more than a quarter of defensive snaps for this game, man?

It's a 4-3 look - 4 down linemen with single high safety and press from the other DBs -and the LBs are: Shag Q at Will - Oluokun at Mike - Lloyd at SAM The Will is in spy mode Shaq Q only played 3 defensive snaps in that football game, but he played 18 this past week vs Houston. Maybe they are getting him ready to play that role some more? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Jump out to an early lead and don't let up. 2. Avoid turnovers like the plague. Every time we've lost a big game to the tacks, we have a disastrous string of turnovers. 3. On defense, Penetration rules the nation. 4. Two words: Gang tackle. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
I’m rooting for Shaq Q. Friend of a friend type thing. So happy when he leveled Henry and created the fumble.

That penetration you mention should be achievable with aggressive play calls. Vrabel will need to rely on plenty of smoke and mirrors / gadgets to generate offense outside of hard earned rushing gains from Henry. This matchup is stacked up well for the Jags to take care of business. Henry will get his, but it probably won't be enough.
I was at the Gator Bowl and seeing that stadium full and the lights on got me sooooo excited for the game Saturday. I may be wrong but I believe the last night game we had was against Miami during Covid. It was like 20% capacity. Saturday night is going to be a real treat.

In case you'd like some context - 7.1 YPC is indeed Henry's BEST game of efficiency this entire season.
With zero threat of a passing game, I think we can contain Henry
Different Jags team compared to previous years' obviously. I really hope we can get the ball first and just score right away.
I'm so mad I have to work Saturday, gonna try and watch as much as I can on my phone tho.

I’ve only gotten to watch two games live this year, Chargers and tacks.
I hope the results are the same this Saturday when I’m watching. ![]()
We’re going to the stadium extra early for the sake of parking. It’s going to be a madhouse.
