Doug Pederson for Coach of the year?

My candidates:

Kyle Shanahan
Kevin O'Connell
Nick Sirianni
Brian Daboll
Doug Pederson

You can make a case for Campbell and Carroll because their teams shouldn't be anywhere near the playoffs. You can also make a case for Andy Reid, Zac Taylor, and Sean McDermott for putting together some really great teams and keeping them on track.

From a sheer overachieving angle, I think you have to give it to Pederson unless things fall perfect for the Lions today.

That and the fact that he literally says it over and over again every year.

I have always thought the argument "Khan doesn't care' because he's made his money" makes no sense at all.  These things actually mean more to him BECAUSE he has already made his money.  Guys with drive like him are competitive. They have already done the business thing.  He lived here, he began here and now he has come back to start again.

Khan isn't just the owner, he's an investor. If Khan didn't care, he wouldn't be trying to fortify his investment with all those offseason splashes. Pretty ridiculous to actually think that..

The Jags are worth 3.5 Billion dollars and even increased its value by 20% the past year alone.

I absolutely loved that scene.

Complete.

Organizational.

Unity.

I have a feeling there will be a lot more of these celebrations to come.

Bigger ones too.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Well, to me trying to look at it neutrally I don't know how you could give it to anyone else.

It’s possible but there are lot of worthy candidates.

Dabol is a candidate, he did more with less. So did Mike McDaniel. Then you get the stalwarts like Andy Reid and Kyle Shanahan who just keep on plugging along. There's other guys who are deserving too.

Yea but their franchises weren't in public scrutiny and worst team in the league in the prior year.

In the beginning, I don't think he did or intended to be this involved, but now I think Shad has a lot of empathy for the common Jags fan. He knows we hit rock bottom and probably felt personally responsible for the Urban Meyer debacle, and I could see the sigh of relief when we won last night

They went from having the number 1 overall pick in the draft, to winning their division and getting a home playoff game. They had to run the table to do it.

The call to go for 2 points against the Ravens, instead of playing for overtime. Losing your starting Left Tackle during the run. The overtime game against Dallas. The way we beat the Titans in do or die winner take all.

We also had 2 comeback wins of 17 points this year.

The fact that Jacksonville has never had a coach of the year.

It has to he Dougy P

Several good candidates out there, but our guy is one of them.

Im not sure when the vote is, but Coach of the year should be voted on after the season. Lets see who goes deeper into the playoffs, us or the GMen.

Pete Carroll traded away his franchise QB and made Geno Smith look like a better version of Russ. Career highs in Yards, tuddies, low in INT (as a starter); I imagine at the beginning of the season nearly everyone had them pegged as a contender for top 5 darft pick.

Doug did a great job and will be a legend in this town if he keeps this going for many more years, but I'll go with the guy who did way more with less.

1000% agree about Daboll, but McDaniel took over an underachiving team that added Tyreek Hill and ended up with the same record as ours. IMHO, not a coach of the year achievement.

It'll also be pretty nice to go to the owners meetings as the owner of a playoff team and not the owner of the worst team in the league.  He'll probably get a lot of handshakes and congratulations.

Yeah we took some licks the last few years on and off the field. But it appears we have finally secured a great foundation to be a competitive football team for the foreseeable future. The 1 and 3 win seasons are no more.

None of them had to cleanup after Urban Meyer, the worst coaching tenure this league has seen in 20 years

Also consider the Giants and Dolphins started strong and seemed to fade (Dolphins moreso) late in the season.

Pederson overcame five straight one score losses and went out with a 6-1 record
