Speaking of this, I found out just yesterday that the values in the Crane Paper #410 for friction factor in the zone of complete turbulence have been slightly revised when compared to the 1988 copyright version of Crane #410 that I - and many others - have.  The new friction factor values are slightly lower than the old values.
Not only that, but I took a cursory look at the pressure drop per 100 feet of pipe table and some of those values have changed slightly as well!

I don't work in the field per se, but a common misconception about us farmers is that we just stick plants in the dirt and start watering them. (Actually a lot do but they're nuts).

 

We actually utilize quite a bit of science in our growing methods and even to choose just what to grow sometimes -- cultivar-wise. Lucky for me, they usually dumb it down just enough for me to understand it.

On the subject, absolutely love science. When my son was in school we made a lifter for one of his science projects. Fascinating device that as far as I can tell I don't believe anyone really knows exactly why they will fly. There are strong theories though. If you don't know what they are just google Lifters.
