Meyer didn't evaluate much of anything except how he could most effectively delegate any and all work that required actual work. Urban has been chased out of every job by scandal and last I checked he's not coaching anyone. He's a piece of [BLEEP] who's great at intimidating kids. That's it. I have trouble seeing a scenario (barring injury) where our tackles next year aren't Cam and Little with Taylor being let go. Cam costs us more to cut than to keep. Considering we're over the salary cap and have some players to sign, I don't see Baalke making our cap worse by getting rid of a starter. The cap implications of trading are the same as if he was cut. I also see us getting very little trade value in return given Cam's salary. If we cut him after June 1st, we save around a million. That's in the neighborhood of the veteran minimum. How are we going to find a suitable replacement for that money? Some may say the draft, but I think the team will prefer to use the draft to upgrade another position instead of finding a replacement for a player they could have kept. If they are going to cut a starter and draft a replacement, they will do it with a player that provides significant cap savings. Cam's contract has an "out" after the 2023 season. I think they'll wait until at least then if they want to move on from him. In hindsight they should of let Cam go this past off season and let Little start at LT. They could have then re-signed Taylor this off season and you can just focus on LG and finding a swing tackle in the draft. Instead Taylor will likely walk and we'll be stuck with the problem of which one of our LTs are going to move over to the right side. Little looks far more natural on the left side and Cam probably wont want to switch over to RT. I'd rather see Little stay at LT from here on out. I don't see anybody trading for Cam and his contract, especially coming off a knee injury that ended his season. They certainly can't just cut him either. Didn't Little look bad at RT? I don't think he is the answer at RT but he looks like he is the guy at LT. I guess we could trade Cam but it doesn't look like we'll gain much from it. I guess we could trade Little too but I think that would be a bad idea.

Honestly we haven't really seen him much at RT, besides in the preseason and 15 snaps during the Cowboys game. His 3 starts last season came at LT. Little is the LT of the future. Any debate needs to be what to do with Cam if we elect to keep Taylor.

Watch Walker Little vs Kahlil Mack on the play the Jaguars scored their 26th point. It was the play Joey Bosa got a penalty.
Do we consider tagging Taylor?
Even if we can’t get a trade out of the Taylor tag, I wouldn’t mind keeping him next year and dealing Cam next offseason. Or if Little falls apart next year, we would still have a good situation.

Maybe he is willing to be flexible with the first year of his deal. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I'm all for it. It was cool to see Cam step up a bit as a leader to a degree this year and all, but the play on the field just doesn't justify his salary.

He shouldn't complain about it if our coaching staff thinks that will benefit the oline the most. He would still be getting paid the same. He needs to learn from Tyron Smith and Jason Peters who are both potential HOF's and have played LT, RT, and G this year to do whats best for the team. Jawaan Taylor is this weeks 6th captain btw, fwiw |
