Chiefs Week

#61

i personally think since we moved Williams to the outside and our DL has actually started to play roughly 9 weeks ago. we have been hard to beat if the offence is clicking. that is the problem we don't start fast. we need a fast start like against Philly but just keep rolling.

However...

1) 1st game was closer than the score indicated, considering we missed 2 FG's and had a TD called back
2) We are better now than then in all phases of the game.
3) KC hasn't been playing for anything for the past 3 weeks.  We've been in playoff mode for 7.

Will we have to play a perfect game to win?  Probably.  None of the 1st half crap from the last game
Will the hostile crowd affect us?  Maybe.
Will be need to be turnover free?  We can probably live with one maximum.  Ideally, we must win the turnover margin or at least break even.
Does ETN need to have a huge, 100+ yard day?  Yes, to keep the KC O off the field.
Do we have a decent shot at winning?  Absolutely.
What do you think is a "decent shot"? 50/50?

Yeah. If we are even or win the TO margin, can run for over 100 and control the clock, we can win.

Cracking! The more they write us off the happier I'll be, anything Doug can use to get in the minds of the players.. Get it all in the board, every little helps...

Brings to mind a story about a football manager over here, Alex Ferguson, who In the late 1980's was managing Aberdeen (regional Scottish side) and took them to a European cup final where they were playing Real Madrid (most successful side in europe) ... Aberdeen were enormous underdogs so before the final Ferguson asked another great manager Jock Stein if he had any ideas... Stein thought for a moment and said, 'when you get over there present the Real Madrid manager with a present, make him think you're just happy to be there' ... Ferguson did as he was told, played up to the press like Lawrence Olivier in Hamlet and when they arrived in Gothenburg for the final presented the Real manager with a superb bottle of Scotch whisky and had the Aberdeen players present the Madrid players with flowers!

Now, the sharper members of the board will have seen where this was going quite so time ago ... But suffice to say when the game kicked off Madrid were caught cold, and Aberdeen won 2-1 ... I suppose the moral of the story being
Doug's a sharp cookie, and being underdog suits us fine so anything and everything we can use to put them off their stride I'll take ... On a 53 man roster you'll always find a few who's head you can get in!

I keep waiting for that “control the clock” game but have come to the realization that’s probably not in the cards.  The only time Doug actually is concerned with it is at the end of the game as evidenced by the kill the clock plays against the chargers on the GWD.

Doug’s gonna call for throwing the ball because that’s what Doug does and believes in and this offense is good at it.  Who am I to question it at this point.  It’s working.

Defense needs to continue playing well and take it up a notch or two.  I think we’ll be fine on offense.

Just remember what happened in 1996 up in Mile High. John Elway and the Broncos were supposed to beat the snot outta us. We went on to score one of the biggest upsets in NFL history.

Nobody in the national media are picking the Jaguars to beat the Chiefs. As Berman says, that’s why they play the game.

We've spent a lot of time talking about how we stop Mahomes and Kelce and Jones but....

How they going to stop Kirk? How they going to stop Engram? How they gonna stop Lawrence? Or Etienne? Or Zay or Marvin or Allen or Trayvon or Rayshawn?

We got players too and we've got momentum and a never say die attitude. We've got here the hard way and we deserve to be here.

It was always the Jags. Let's freaking go!

This is not the dominant Chiefs team as they have been in years past. We can beat them, [BLEEP] what the media and opposing fans think.

The defense needs to be a lot more physical and aggressive. They've been too soft. The offense needs to control the tempo of the game and put up at least 30 points. It's going to take our best game from here on out.

They literally had the second best offensive season of Mahomes' career.

Have to find a way to get stops/turnovers/luck/whatever it takes. Lawrence has to put on a clinic. Must protect 16 and carve up that defense that has allowed 33 passing TD's this season.

Just tell everyone to play like they're down 28. Or rather 27. The whole game.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Start the game behind by 27.

Just start the game in the 3rd quarter, I'd prefer to not be down when the 3rd quarter explosion happens to comeback/take the lead.

One step away from the afc championship game. It’s super exciting times. One play at a time.

Go jags!!!!!

Agree.

The Chiefs defense is definitely beatable. They did not look good later in the year against Cincy, Houston, Denver x2.

Chris Jones, Frank Clark, and Carlos Dunlap can cause issues, but if the Jags O-line or protection schemes can hold up, the Jags offense should be good to go as long as they aren't turning the ball over with strip sack fumbles, dumb interceptions, and dropped passes. Jags offense plays clean and they will be in good shape for this game.

Everyone wants to talk about Mahomes and the Chiefs offense (which, yeah they're REALLY good), but the other side of this matchup Jags Offense vs Chiefs defense is key to this game.

a couple guys are not feeling this game well afraid of Trevor and Doug. most of them think it will be a walk in the part, another bye week.

1 guy actually asked who our number 1 corner was i was talking about.  He didn't think we had one since Ramsey Left.

go jags I'm gonna be posting on there board all week.

We appreciate the friendly banter. We can get pretty crazy over there, but I will make sure to watch my p’s and q’s here. Should be a really fun game. Patrick has been very efficient this year, and playing at an incredible level. I’m sure Doug is going to throw everything in his playbook at us to try to win this game. Just not sure you guys are quite there yet. Not that you don’t have a great team, and coach. Because you definitely do. Just Casey has been in this position every year for a while now. And Andy coming off of a by is almost automatic. Here’s to a good game with no injuries to either side.

What are you basing this off of? lol

Because it's not stats, facts or the eye test.....

The offense is still elite. They don't have huge 80 yard bombs to Tyreek but they're scoring the same if not more than they did in the last few years.
