This "Teacher", and the entire school board, should be thrown out.........

My issue is when we try to use blanket statements about teachers as if it fits all. 99% of teachers are trying to do right by this kids and then there’s 1% who aren’t.

“I have no sympathy for teachers because they’re harboring pedophiles” is a blanket statement that implies all teachers are harboring pedophiles. I don’t see any outrage on this board concerning the priests that do this. Teachers are just an easy target on here and I don’t think it’s right.

Cleatwood, do yourself a favor and don't get into debates with anyone who makes sweeping generalizations about any group of people, professions, etc. They are not willing to even consider alternative viewpoints from the the ones they possess. I worked in the Duval County School system for just under 40 years and your estimate of .25 % of teachers who are guilty of these accusations is right on target. I believe the same can be said of police and other targeted professions.

Thanks for doing what you do. Our teachers are under-appreciated and underpaid; the same can be said of our policemen. It is no wonder both of these professions are having so many people quit much sooner than they had originally intended.

For those who can't wait to be critical of this post, I believe any teacher who attempts to inappropriately use their position to influence their students sexual preferences should be strongly reprimanded and in most cases, fired. The same goes for any other serious offense they are found guilty of. I have seen some examples when the teachers'  union has supported teachers not worthy of this support. This is a problem which must be corrected. That being said, it is wrong for anyone to make accusations against the teaching profession as a whole when so few are guilty of these offenses.

I think, for the most part, people understand this. However, it's not unlike the Thin Blue Line, right? If there are bad cops, but they "protect their own," then how are you supposed to weed out the bad cops? They don't even have to defend the bad cops personally, as long as they are shutting down others who are being critical of the bad cops or system that defends the profession, they are effectively maintaining the status quo. The same is true in any other profession.

This becomes even more dangerous if the problem is top down, which I believe is the case with teaching. Obviously, this is not true across the board, but it doesn't take much to tilt the playing field. Activism perpetuates itself. And if you get leaders or teachers that are spreading this activism, then you have instituted a cycle of activism that will keep growing. Everyone here can agree that if you allowed religion to be taught at school (not as an idea, but as a goal), the population would soon begin to reflect that which they are being taught. This is no different than what progressives are PURPOSEFULLY trying to institute in our education system. It's called critical pedagogy. It's taught in some universities. It requires praxis, which is essentially activism for the purpose of conversion. It happens to contain many progressive ideas, and some among them are sexualization of children and critical theory. These are not just ideas to be debated, but lifestyle goals, which means they are taught as absolutes. This is dangerous.

You have many good teachers, but you have progressive school boards and professors that are introducing activism into the system, and it will continue to get worse unless we put our foots down and collectively uproot the source of that activism. I agree with everything Cleatwood said. We shouldn't denigrate every teacher. However, we also need allies in the teaching profession that agree with the principle that PRAXIS is a form of evil in our education system. We should be raising critical, independent thinkers who are open to new ideas. That is COMPLETELY different than indoctrination into a certain set of beliefs.

You don’t seemed wired for that, at all.

I actually used to be, but I'm a very different person in my old age. Disillusionment is a very real thing.

Actually it's "Reverend"; I got the sheepskin and everything. If I can ever get this damnable dissertation done it will be "Reverend Doctor flsprtsgod" and I will change my user ID to reflect my increased superiority over you louts.

Sadly it was more about the other profit and I had a falling out with the denominational leadership over it. The sheepskin I was referring to was an ordination; my college stuff is more tech and business. I was going to do an M.div but before grad school started I had a change in direction, so I took up an MBA instead. Now I work for my profit at a for profit subsidiary of a not for profit. No prophet could've seen that coming when I was 25.
