If Blackmon were put on the trade block right now there'd be at least 4 teams lining up to pick him up.

 

Primarily because the risk is low and the reward is high. The reason the Jaguars won't do either of those is because he's easily the most talented player on offense and the gain is either minimal or non-existent.

Non-story. I think the fact that he was not under the influence is a huge, huge indicator that he might finally have his stuff together considering this is a guy that has been under the influence every single time he's been pulled over so far.

Soo, he wasn't arrested, wasn't high or drunk. Basically didn't do anything wrong. But because he was out late and happened to get in an accident we should cut him. You guys have never been out at 3 am? Never been in any kind of accident?

 

I'm all for these guys having a social life. They have the right to just like you and I do. However, he's already been suspended once and now he's working on an indefinite suspension. He has no business being out that late. He needs to be rehabilitating his image and earning Caldwell and Bradley's trust again.

 

He's gonna end up screwing around and pissing it away at this rate.

Look I went to college and I have been a regular drinker since I was a r in high 11th grade. Not to mention I was a daily pot smoker for about a decade. I have exactly zero MIPs, zero DUIs, zero photos of me in compromising situations, zero car accidents at time slots that literally 98% of the general population are asleep, and I have never been in bad standing with my employer.

If perhaps every single other instance of him being an idiot hadn't occurred, this would be a non-story. Unfortunately that's not the case and this is just another instance of Justin making a poor decision.

Agree with you on all of this. I was in the same boat for a few years as well. You can drink and act a fool (at a reasonable sound level) in the comfort of your own home/apartment or a friend's home/apartment. It's called being responsible and common sense. But to be out at 3:30 AM is stupid at this point when you're, like you said, under a tremendous microscope for previous stupid behavior and situations just like this.

And I hate the excuses that'll follow as well. Being a "young man" is one thing, but being a "young man that just seems to have a knack for getting himself into stupid situations over, and over, and over again at odd times when Police are out" is completely different. And yeah, there probably is a whole bunch of "young men" being out in the middle of the night not involving alcohol, it's called work, maintaing an overnight job, etc.

We don't need to trade the kid. Honestly, I don't think the majority of this fanbase wants to see that. We all want to see this kid consistently produce behemoth like numbers for our offense on a more consistent basis without the excess baggage.

What makes things even worse, and I can agree with most folks on this subject here as well, is that, if he really, REALLY has a problem. What's his excuse for not getting it addressed then? Because he obviously has the money to get it done, and he obviously has the NFL's benefits of programs to help him clean up his act if he REALLY needs it. A lot of people in this world would love to have that on the table as an option, but they can't afford it. Or don't have that type of support around them.

Nobody is saying he can't have a life either. I am twenty-five years old, I go out every other weekend with my fiance and our friends, but we do it responsibly and don't get ourselves into stupid situations every other month. Hearing that "he's a young man" excuse is tiresome. Because it's not a good enough of excuse for what he's done in the past. And I have far LESS to lose than this guy does. It just frustrates me to see a kid with his talent potentially blunder it.
