Trevor Lawrence: Franchise QB (TL Discussion, Merged Threads)

Lawrence would do so many good things in a game but then make one mistake and get destroyed for it and would be the 'only' reason we lost.

At times it was getting crazy with the overreactions but glad we ended the season all feeling the same way that we've got our Franchise QB.

Going to be a fun time to be a Jags fan.

However, my pessimist mind goes to this at times.

In his last 5 games, Trevor was 109/170 (64% completion percentage) for 1098 yards, 6 touchdowns and 6 interceptions, for a QB rating of 79.49.

It would have been nice if he finished the season with a bang, but it was actually quite underwhelming except for the 2nd half of the San Diego game.
A lot of it was him doing what he had to do to win.  Not forcing things and giving what the defense gave him.  When he was down 27 he did what he had to do to get us back in position to get the win.  Have to give the defense credit in that game as well also on the stretch late in the season to make the playoffs.  The defense really picked up their play late in the season and the 2nd half of that Chargers game.

Improving the defense a bit more will help a lot. Hopefully the jags grab some good players in the draft.

The last five games:

WIN
WIN
WIN
WIN (playoff)
LOSS to number one seed by 7 points in divisional round

Super "underwhelming."
Especially when virtually no one picked that team to get past .500 on the year.

we won a lot of those games, yes. It’s a team sport. Defense stepped up big time.

-He played well vs the Jets
-So-so against the Texans but we destroyed them
-Underwhelming against the Titans. Defensive touchdown late in the 4th clinched the playoffs for us.
-San Diego: god awful for the first half, MVP like the second half.
-KC: underwhelming

That is my analysis of his performance the last 5 games.

Well then, imagine how great this team will be when he gets better.

Feel like we may have left a super bowl on the table with how underwhelming our QB was the back part of the season.. What are we doing?

We are killing time during this dead zone?

Are you sure you are posting to the correct message board? Or did you think you were on TitansReport.com?

I remember your love for Blake bottles. Don’t try to flip this on Trevor.

sounds like you’re looking for 400 yards passing every game with 6 TDs. All I know is they ran the table and made the playoffs. Went on to win a playoff game with the 3rd largest comeback in NFL history.

Bro, i ask you respectfully to please get the hell over yourself that was a few years ago. You had a man crush for Minshew so go somewhere with that childish crap.

My brother,  I'm a jacksonville jaguar fan just like you born and raised here so please stop and let's move on from the Blake Bortles situation. Bottom line is I shouldn't have to be defined forever by my support for a former player from this franchise.

Enjoy the ride guys. It should be fun.
Respect the game.  Play with a sense of urgency.

1.)  Take care of the ball.  Win the turnover battle.

2.)  It's all about 3rd down.  Win on 3rd down to win the game.

3.) Playmakers make plays.  The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays.

Learn from the great collapse of 2023.

When do the contract conversations start? At the rate QBs are going we should look at locking him in sooner rather than later, preferably a Mahomes type deal vs a Watson or Lamar deal. If he balls again next season the Jags need to get something done.

The table currently is being set to do just that next year. That is the soonest it can be accomplished.

Contracts are getting insane no doubt. I wonder how long it will be until the first billion dollar QB contract? Lawrence will definitely be the Jags biggest contract to date .
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

My buddy had an interesting contract idea.

Just have the QBs with their own separate contracts that don’t count towards the cap, like a Head Coach. The QB contracts are getting insane and it won’t stop.

I can see where that would only accelerate the current trend.

The irony is that the stupid money for QBs trend all started with Kyler Murray. Kyler freaking Murray.

Yea but it wouldn’t interfere with building a roster.

You won’t have to choose between signing your QB and potentially losing other players.
