NFL Draft Day 1 *live thread*

Chad Reuter gave us an A grade for the pick.

"Analysis: Lacking depth at offensive tackle and with Cam Robinson facing suspension, the Jaguars addressed their offensive line in the first round with an up-and-coming prospect in Harrison. The mobility he showed during the season and at the NFL Scouting Combine was impressive, so it’s not a surprise he went in Round 1. The top corners were off the board and this draft’s depth at tight end allowed them to meet this need first."

According to Baalke, none of those considerations played into it; they just went according to their board. But it might work out like Reuter thinks, if things go right in round 2.

We have the draft ammo to be aggressive and come away with at least 3 players tomorrow night.

2. Witherspoon was gone in the top 5 so we had no chance.
3. The second best was Gonzalez and we didn't have shot at him either.
4. The best fit for what we need there, Banks, went earlier too.
5. FSG Masterclass. You should pay attention like Trent did.

You are a puppet and you have always followed whatever the mock drafts do.  Of course you feel that way lol.

Lol, once again a lesson slaps you in the forehead and you refuse to learn. It's ok though, I enjoy teaching.

I was wondering why Will Levis was being considered a top draft pick after watching quite a few Kentucky games this past season. It just goes to show the hype machine is just that until draft time. You can fool the fans and even the player, but the teams know. Well, maybe not the clots.

I like how Jeff Prosser described Levis last night as starting out as the glowing prom queen and ending with mascara running down his face.

This.

I’d be SHOCKED if he’s not taken by Pittsburgh at 33 based on legacy factor alone

It's odd but it happens. I thought the 4 Straight QBs talk was a bit much, but I thought they were all 1s in this draft. I mean, the Falcons decided to roll with Desmond Ridder and drafted a running back in the top 10. That's just odd.

As a pocket passer (stays in pocket, eyes down field, goes through progressions, etc) he looked better than Stroud and Richardson to me in the little bit of highlights I watched.  I realize that doesn’t necessarily mean better prospect or player, but in this QB driven league and multiple teams needing QBs passing on him in the 1st, I’m a little surprised.

You can't just watch the highlights, though.  You gotta see the lowlights, too.

His accuracy is suspect and he’s prone to make dumb mistakes. He simply doesn’t have it between the ears. Watching him this last season, he’s never presented himself, in my eyes, as anything more than a backup. Last night confirmed it.

Falcons and Lions are the big losers. Falcons could've traded down still grabbed Bijon Mustard. Lions got horrible value with both picks. Some teams with two first rounders decide to blow them on boom or bust picks or overdrafting. The Eagles and Texans (unfortunately) did well with their two first rounders, although the Texans gave up a first rounder next year, which will likely be a top 10 pick.

Seeing him with the blonde who was intent on having items practically spilling out of her bra on national TV didn't reflect well on his decision-making skills either. She wanted to be the center of attention on his big day. He could do better.

I am good man. Again, you cannot get mad for protecting your QB. Lawrence had the 2nd fastest release last year. Imagine what happens if Harrison gives him more time in the pocket with Ridley staggering Kirk and Jones down in the receiving core.
