Chad Henne Equal Playoffs ?
|
Quote:Don't forget Tony Banks started half that year for Baltimore. Dilfer's record was actually 7-1 in the regular season. Yeah, Henne is about on the level of Tony Banks. I'm still amazed that Dilfer was able to go 7-1. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Whenever Dilfer talks about football I chuckle and think to myself, wow this guy made it to the NFL? and then I cry because he made it to the NFL and won a superbowl and I didnt
David Caldwell just needs to build some sort of machine that allows him to traverse the infinite universes and find a version of Chad Henne that is the best quarterback in football. He may cause the collapse all of universes and end existence as we know, but the cost of winning a Super Bowl is well worth it.

Henne will make double his salary if we make the playoffs.. so I'm sure he's going to give it his best effort haha.
The odds are against making the playoffs. Ok. But man... Why even go to games or watch TMD style at home if you already " know" how the season shakes out. It more fun to think, maybe, what if than to already resign yourself to defeat.
I don't expect it, but what I'd give for Henne to finally get it, play above his expectations, over achieve... Just to shut the Henne Haters up. Expecting is one thing. Hope is another.

Quote:Even if it was the #1 defense in the league, that allowed less than 10 points a game, we would still be below .500 with Henne Haha, we tend to remember the bad things. Henne is no world beater but he can perform competently with some support. If he starts all 16 games next year, 4200 yards and 20 to 25 TDs is a reasonable possibility. Henne's biggest issue are some physical limitations. I hope we keep him around to mentor our franchise QB when we get him.

Quote:He gets too many tipped balls at the line, first thing that comes to mind. Good Lord. Ever seen Mark Brunell play? He'd get those all the time too. And I consider Brunell the best QB we've had to date. If your definition of a competent QB is one who never makes a mistake you'll never be happy.

I really haven't followed Chad Henne's career, but I know he has a career losing record. Has he ever even made the playoffs?? I don't think he has, but like I said, I haven't really followed him.
I'd say the odds of him taking the Jags to the playoffs this year is very very slim. He just doesn't have that "IT" factor when it comes to winning games, even close ones. He just doesn't do anything above average. The overall team will definately be better, how could it be any worse, but the Jags will only go as far as Henne will take them, unless, of course, the unknown at this time drafted QB comes in and beats Henne out for the starting job, which is something I believe everyone in here really wants to happen.
I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

I don't think he has, but like I said, I haven't really followed him. It's often said that the QB gets to much credit for wins and to much blame for losses. The QB is the most important position on the team to be sure, but there are other factors at work. Defending Henne I feel like I'm playing devil's advocate because he's not a franchise QB by any stretch but I have to laugh when people make him out like a Ryan Leaf or David Carr. There are different levels of competence in the NFL and there are variations between "awful" and "great". I'd love to see a Marino or Manning or Brady level QB with the Jags but while we're re-building the team as whole, he'll do for the near term.

Here's an old article when i typed in 2013 batted passes. First thing on the list http://www.bigcatcountry.com/2013/11/12/...es-jaguars ![]()
Henne = play offs? Is he planning to buy tickets for the team to a playoff game?

I couldn't verify this figure as the link you supplied doesn't show it, But assuming it's true, it one of the things that keep him from being a top tier QB certainly. On the other hand, his completion percentage is consistently around or above 60% and his yardage from last year extrapolated out to 16 game starts would be just under 4000 ypg which is respectable. I'm just not buying your position that he is one of the worst QBs in the league.

I'm just not buying your position that he is one of the worst QBs in the league. Not trying to start an arguement, but where at in my post did i say he's one of the worst Qb's in the league? I said his biggest problem is that he has the most balls batted down at the line of scrimmage and throws a lot of picks. After looking up his numbers on pro football focus he's actually in the top 10 for performing well under pressure. Although that statistic could be slightly skewed because it doesn't take into consideration what kind of pass is completed when being blitz. So if he has a 65% completion on blitz's but the majority of the time the ball is just dumped off for a two yard gain vs someone that has a 50% completion but the majority of their passes go for 5-10 yards I'd take the 50% guy over the 65% guy. Just my preference https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/20...breakdown/ http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?t...onType=REG according to NFL.com chad henne is a middle of the road Qb which is what his contract basically concurs with. ![]()
