Pats were easily top 5 in Rushing and top 5 Defense that year. Probably even closer to top 3+ in both. Mac Jones couldn't hold Lawrence's jock strap and he never will.

Flip them in their rookie year and the Pats easily win 14 games with Lawrence and we aren't winning a single game with Mac bum [BLEEP] Jones.

I'm not the only one with that recollection.

I bashed Trevors individual game performances on many occasions, both in his rookie season and even part of the last year. But with that being said, where I pointed out his wild inconsistencys with accuracy/decision making (which were even visible to everyone watching his most recent game in which he threw 4 really bad interceptions) I never said he didn't have talent. 

This is where the disconnect between myself and most of this board becomes apparent. When it comes to being a quarterback I could careless about your physical attributes untill I see them turn into production on the field. The Colts new rookie comes to mind, I still can't believe he was even drafted based on his ability to play QB (Trevor is nothing like him, this is an extreme example tho)

I did have my doubt, mainly concerning issues that he had prior to joining the NFL, and has continued to have since he's been here. However, like most human beings theres always room for improvement and when he started showing improvement I gave him his props. MOST QBs specfically do not turn the table and fix there issues that's why it's so incredibly hard to find a true franchise elite QB. 

I watched every single play Trevor made at Clemson, so you can imagine my dissapointment when the worst of what I saw there, became the majority of what I saw in his rookie season. I never doubted he had a big arm, I never doubted he was physically gifted and could make throws.. but I also wasn't blinded by the teal sunglasses and pretending the issues didn't exist like some on this board. He STILL makes the same mistakes. They are very specific issues, I know someone will say something like "yeah but every qb has a bad throw/game yada yada" But when you look deeper, notice he makes the same mistakes in the same situations, thats where it worries me. 

He has gotten significantly better.. which I've been happy about. But to disregard the things I said is just ignorant, and because he got better dosen't mean the issues never existed to begin with.

I had my doubts, but for some reason what my doubts actually were have been precieved incorrectly. I never once said he wasn't going to work out, my main gripe was again (for the millionth time) was that he had no business being compared to Luck or Manning as a prospect, because while he had plenty of impressive moments @ Clemson he had a boat loud of head scratching throws/decisions, he was bailed out quite often by having one of the all time leaders in college football history (ETN) who deserved more credit than Trevor did for the majority of Clemsons success and NFL talent such as Tee Higgins running wide open consistently. Something you wouldn't see on the 5 minute highlight video you watched, was how often he missed wide open WRs, how often he threw a ball 5 yards over their head (which continued on when he got here) how terrible errant his throws were when scrambling, why he always tended to scramble out to the left and throw across his body when there was a clean pocket etc etc the list goes on. 

My entire narrative was never to say he wouldn't be a good player, I just had reservations on HOW good he would be. While the media and this forum board seemed to think he was a dead lock to be a top 3-5 QB in the league in time.. I wasn't so sure. 


Theres a HUGE difference in saying he's going to be a bust, and I have been on record throwing that word out for guys I truely do not believe in. Zach Wilson being the most recent, but dating back to when we drafted Bortles I also made that claim. I also believe Anthony Richardson and Bryce Young will be major bust as well. So if they turn out well, you can quote this and tell me I'm wrong.


However, telling me i'm "Incorrect" on a take about his performances that are viewable on the internet for all to see is just ignorant. Now if you want to just admit that you've mistaken me for JaguarMVP who WAS calling him a bust, and that other bozo.. then I'll accept the apology.

And for the record, he improved mightily from week 9-18 last season, and it's a great sign of things to come hopefully. But he still ended the season with 25 TDs 8 ints and like 7 fumbles. Those are OK numbers, he's still far from elite.
