The other is a young man currently in the middle of a professional football career as a TE. He makes 1000% more sense as a camp body for a TE room with little depth than someone completely removed from the sport by years who never even played the position.

If anyone thinks USFL to shieldball is a one-to-one projection, well, you might as well not bother with any further discussion.

Dude is gonna get a shot. He can put some film down, and if he's lucky, he'll land a spot on someone's PS and make some good money during the USFL offseason. Sure beats pharma sales or bagging groceries.

IIRC Josh played TE last season and at least the majority of his time at ULM. You'll have to remind me what his batting average was the past few years, as that was not mentioned in the cited article. Unlike your heartthrob, dude has played the position to which he was signed, did well at it (albeit in a less demanding environment), and is being signed for football reasons.

Guys like him get brought in by teams all across the league at this time of year. They get their chance to show that they can compete when the stage and competition are bigger, and if they don't, they end up back in the underleagues.

Maybe wait until he's declared the week one starter before you start championing a flawed cause.

Should a TE have recorded such a number of receiving yards in the NFL last season - they'd rank 13th in that category between Dalton Schultz and Gerald Everett - for perspective. 
 (not 12th as my poor math suggested) 

And yes, I know Pederson did not play in the NFL, no need to remind me. Just attempting to provide perspective to those downplaying the numbers.

Tebow still sucks just as bad as he did the day he was over-drafted. He'll still suck just as bad tomorrow too. He was brought in by the worst head coach in NFL history while this kid was brought in by our Super Bowl winning head coach who overturned the Urban Error in a matter of months. If you add “and who wouldn’t be getting a look at the Jags if he weren’t the coach’s son” then your perspective would be in focus.  The harder you work to make it seem like being the coaches son has nothing to do with him turning up at the Jags instead of any other NFL team (who have no idea who he is), the more you dig the hole.

I could care less about him.  But I am humoured by ease with which this board decides principle based on expediency.

Heh.  A nice little chuckle, this.  Of course, its easy to see why the club whitewashes the embarassment.

This move builds the son’s coaching resume. With time in an NFL camp it will be far more likely he can pick up an NFL coaching gig.  It’s good dad is helping him out.  Dads are supposed to do that.

This righteous board, however, doing its best blind monkeys impersonation is another thing.  To pretend that “coach’s son” is not the most important factor, indeed the only factor, that has him in this camp is a damning indictment on yourselves. Especially just two short seasons after you all had the vapours over a far less personally indicting case of favouritism.
