Why did the Jags draft a FULLBACK?

I still remember him not being able to get 1 single yard when we ran him 3 times in the row when we at the goal line, failing to score. Dude had no leverage running the ball -- ran too high. We get to read your "I hate Greg Jones" schtick ~5 times a year. We know. Settle down. This thread is about drafting Derek Parish - who is actually listed with the TE group on our roster - not at FB. The only question to really debate is whether he did enough in camp to convince coaches he's worth developing on the PS. (Which is what 98% of us were predicting to be his future when he was the 240th player selected in the draft.) We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Greg Jones was once the highest paid FB in NFL history. What’s this dude talking about with the bust talk?
Oh and he got that contract after he tore his knee up as the RB2, which was ahead of RB3 Jones-Drew at the time.

Also, not certain if you are aware but Tim Couch, Albert Haynesworth, and many others signed big time contracts and turned out to be busts. Heck, the Jags are notorious for overpaying players and not getting production consistent with their contracts (Brandon Lindor, Norwell, Hugh Douglas, etc.) --- overpaying doesn't make a player good. I love jagging people about Greg Jones .... it's like telling a parent that their newborn isn't that cute.
Draft and develop.
He is obviously not ready for prime time right now. Let him develop for a year on the practice squad and see if he can compete in next years camp.
Respect the game. Play with a sense of urgency.
1.) Take care of the ball. Win the turnover battle. 2.) It's all about 3rd down. Win on 3rd down to win the game. 3.) Playmakers make plays. The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays. Learn from the great collapse of 2023. The man was fixing to steal carries from Fred before the second ACL. No telling what he would’ve been at RB without injury. Even without it being an elite full back isn’t a bust. 2007 doesn’t happen without him opening holes for MJD and Fred.

Bruh Greg was over 100 yards in a half at Pittsburgh before they had to pull him for [BLEEP] Wimbush or something.
GJones was a man. Love my guy. ![]()

Well, he was released. Wish him the best.
Time to move on.
The Other Jag Forum: Duval Football Fans.
Brandon Scherff is no longer that dude. Next season I want him gone.
They signed him onto the practice squad, which is where he belongs this season as a development player undergoing a position switch. He is roster listed now as a TE, not a FB (or H-back).
