Trade back scenario
|
Anyone see the rams trading up from the 13th pick to our 3rd overall where they can select Robinson and Watkins?
I can see us getting their 1,2,3 and next years 1 possibly more

If they really want Watkins they will take him @ #2 then take one of Lewan/Matthews/Robinson @ #13.
Every year people get all hot and bothered with these fantasy trade scenarios. They rarely happen. Especially in what is considered a "deep draft". Little motivation to move up and give away picks.

I think the most likely trade back targets might be Cleveland, Oakland, or Atlanta. I can see Cleveland and Oakland looking to grab a QB and Atlanta wanting Clowney. I'd love for us to drop back and pick up Cleveland's two 2nd round picks.

Rams will not trade up to the 3rd pick. If anything, I see them sliding back from the 2nd pick, and garnering additional picks from someone that wants Clowney if Houston passes.

St. Louis is in the best position: A: They really don't need Clowney B: Their 2 positions of need are deep in WR/OT...They could fall to #6 and still have choice of Robinson/Matthews/Lewan or even wait til #13. C: Because of A&B St. Louis could take a "cheaper" deal then Jaguars D: Pick #2 is before pick #3...so they will be trading out if Texans don't go Clowney #1 We need to hope they fall in love with Watkins and don't want to risk another Blackmon scenario where they trade back and he ends up getting drafted before their new pick.
I think you will see the Bucs move up to get Watkins thats your best bet for a trade partner if he doesn't go in the top 2.
Quote:Anyone see the rams trading up from the 13th pick to our 3rd overall where they can select Robinson and Watkins? The Rams already have the second pick. They almost certainly won't trade back up to three. Even if they wanted to, two things would come into play: 1. While Bradwell are willing to move back some, I doubt they'd want to jump that far back and cost themselves a shot at the best pass rushers and QBs. I don't see them trading any further back than the Falcons' spot, and that would only be for Clowney or an OT. 2. No way does a jump from 13 to 3 net a two, a three and a future one. If this were a year in which there were three safe-bet QBs with franchise potential, the Jags might be able to drum up a costly market for the last of them. This draft is deep, though, and it's not likely a year in which a ten-spot fall would pull in that much. Maybe a two, a three and some pick-flipping in later rounds, but this doesn't feel like a future-one year for trades. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! |
