Trevor Lawrence: Franchise QB (TL Discussion, Merged Threads)
|
red zone stats similar to Burrow that make a player "elite"
28/41 68.3% yds 201 TD 13 INT 0 18/25 72.0% yds 130 TD 7 INT 0 Name the "elite" QBs with those stats Red Zone efficiency is very complex, and should not be simplified down to base level stats We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Trev is a good modern NFL QB but I would argue he is more of a "don't mess this up and hand it off when we're in scoring range" than a "carry us elite one" type QB. #gamemanager but used ironically? The copium you folks ingest is crazy. I'm going to give you folks a couple of redzone stat lines, you have to guess who is who Yup, that is indeed him. He has pretty much only dogged on Lawrence since we drafted him and sent his boy Minshew packing

I didn't see that factored in? I also hear Minshew is faster on and off the field than Treavor. Now that is a stat that is critical. TL needs to pick it up some.

Outside of that dumpster fire of a loss across all three phases to the tinhorns in week three. We were probably just a drive or two away from being 7 - 1 with a leg up on Kansas City back in week two. Had we just executed better in the redzone with the football in some of our receivers hands or catch radius. I said it earlier but that game will come back to bite us in the [BLEEP]. You watch. We'll probably get the 2nd seed instead of the 1 seed now or they get the 3 seed and we get the 4 seed with the same overall record but they get the nod with the head-to-head win. Sucks. Would love to see an AFC Championship game played here in Jacksonville. "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. The defense so far has helped us stay in games. Trevor Lawrence and ETN have helped our D by maintaining drives and giving our D time to rest and recover. But let's face it, we're not finishing drives. https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/re...coring-pct We're 23rd in TDs when inside the Red Zone. That's been a problem all year that needs to be fixed.
The red zone thing will get sorted.
The way I see it - there are two major components and then a few other contributing factors. Component One: STIPID MISTAKES & TURNOvERS How many turnovers inside the 30 this year? 6? 7? 8? - Whatever it is - it's way too many. Half of them were boneheaded mistakes or crap luck. That won't stay on a trend all year. Component Two - Xs and Os - Pederson tweaked the playbook a bit when he added Ridley/Strange and he hasn't found his perfect recipe with the goal line as a boundary yet. He will. Last year we saw the playcalling go through seasons of trends and minor installs throughout the year as they found their groove. And then it hit. I think we are seeing this again on a smaller scale. Obviously they alter their plan week to week according to opponent - but they are also constantly figuring out what works and what doesn't with the new personnel and the even more limited OL play. I anticipate this settling into something more efficient near the goal line soon. (11-02-2023, 04:47 PM)NYC4jags Wrote: The red zone thing will get sorted. I looked up the pass TDs for 2022 in the first 8 games and the pass TDs for 2023 for this current 8 games. 9 TDs in 2022. 10 TDs in so far in 2023. Statistically the offense is right around where we were last year... Defensively... That's the thing that looks to be better.... Of course, we're comparing strength of teams that may not be the same. Even with that said, we're going into November on a high, yet our offense is in need of help. Pass protection is one issue. But proper play calling in the red zone is also something that is a problem that needs to be fixed. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Line Cooks out wide and then motion Engram right on out next to him. I think that would be fun. It's just a decoy though. It's really a toss sweep in that direction with Strange also pulling around the tackle. Preferably on Robinson's side. "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? It's installation of more effective stuff to the RZ package that needs to happen. The two-headed monster is figuring out what works with new personnel (as stated above) and squashing the mistakes made by players in the RZ. We probably have 4 or 5 more TDs right now if you wipe away the most egregious player errors made in the red zone. I bet we will see Doug install more red zone plays that we haven't seen yet pretty soon. That isn't play calling. It's installation. It happened last year too. He'll save his best stuff for the final push after learning/observing the tendencies of his offense. I think it's coming soon enough. Also 4-6 more if at the snap the opponents defensive line had not moved the line of scrimmage into our backfield.
