Israel - Palestine

The US media’s moral blindness over Hamas is showing, and it isn’t pretty In the clearest moral test in a generation, much of the U.S. media is failing. And not just by a little — they are failing spectacularly. On Oct. 7, the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas murdered an estimated 1,400 Israelis, many of whom were civilians, and kidnapped nearly 250 others to use as hostages. From the air, land and sea, Hamas terrorists targeted men, women, children, infants and the elderly. Some Israelis were shot. Some were burned to death. Some were killed with explosives. Some were tortured and maimed. Some were raped and then murdered. The list of atrocities, many of which have been confirmed independent of Israeli officials, goes on and on. Israel has since responded with military force, vowing to root out and destroy Hamas. In this specific moment, when Israel is responding militarily to the greatest single-day slaughter of Jews since Adolf Hitler’s suicide, the question of who committed evil and who is justified could not be any clearer. Indeed, it is rare that a story as clear-cut as this falls into one’s lap. Yet despite the uncomplicated nature of this precise situation, and despite the universally shared principle that murder and terrorism are, in fact, wrong, many journalists and editors appear to be morally confused. Some scribes seem to be losing sleep, agonizing over such deep ethical dilemmas as, “Is ethnic cleansing — sorry, ‘decolonization’ — a legitimate form of protest?”; “does the terrorist organization that rules the Gaza Strip really owe it to the people it governs to provide basic utilities, including clean water?”; “can we really say that an Israeli infant was ‘beheaded,’ when it’s probably more accurate to say that the infant’s head was blown off by a rifle or a grenade?”; “is there a way around the idea that the Palestinian slogan, ‘From the river to the sea’ is an explicit call for a genocide?”; “do we really need to vet or fact-check statements and accusations that come from Hamas?”… We show less advertisements to registered users. I find myself siding with Israel in their decision to tear it down and rebuild under their security system. This is mostly because I still cannot comprehend Hamas initiating the terrorist act of invading Israel and killing innocent people in their communities and a band of concert goers, both sets of that actually sided with sided with a peaceful relationship between Israelis and Palestinians.
What an interesting dynamic this war has evoked from the American left. It's almost better than stocking a middle school library with pornographic books.

NPR ran a semi-critical piece on Rep Cori Bush (D-MO) who has been vocal in calling for a cease fire in this conflict, and how other Democrats are criticizing her for that. Bush and her supporters kept comparing Palestinians, in their oppression, to African Americans.
As I've said here before, Palestinians have heard that many times and find it laughable. The secular Palestinians would love to be treated as inferior second class citizens. They hear stories of Jim Crow in the US and laugh. The religious Palestinians think they they should be the first class citizens and Jews should be second class, if Jews are even allowed to live in the first place. But regardless they are all treated as enemies and prisoners. The gap between how they are treated and how they think they should be treated, is much wider than the gap that African Americans had. And the levels of heinous violence they are willing to stoop to are also much higher. So the treatment they deserve is much lower. It's a shame certain people like Bush can't see that. Not only would their perception be closer to reality, they would become more grateful that they were born here.

The American left is attempting to attribute a racial injustice angle to this when, in fact, its dimensions are much broader, deeper, and complex. We show less advertisements to registered users. I find it hard to understand how you are still confused by this. They are a terrorist organization. They are the same as al Qaeda, ISIS and the Taliban. Recent history tells you what those groups did to their own people while trying to defeat the US and our allies and Hamas is no different. If you need a refresher feel free to talk to some veterans of OIF and OEF. Does the term human shield ring a bell? These jerktards hid themselves among the civilian population in homes, schools and hospitals because they knew we wouldn't target those places. The people of Palestine are human shields for Hamas.

I'm not confused. I know why and how people fly airplanes into buildings, commit mass murders, and why the Taliban doesn't allow females to attend school beyond 6th grade so when I say I still can't comprehend these types of actions, it's a figure of speech, not that I'm confused by their actions. They only way to stop the fighting is to remove Hamas. How do you remove them? Even if the entire leadership structure was removed on the ground, it would still start back up immediately as the true leadership doesn't live there and most of the people support them, even though they are being impoverished by them. You have leaders with billions living it up in Qatar or other places. You have all the aid going to the people being raided first by them. Then the people get scraps. Unless the people stop it, there is really only one permanent solution. The whole area has to be leveled. Flood or collapse all tunnels. Then cut off all entry/exit points, mines, fencing, and monitoring for drones and tunnels. If there are any people left, then give them the option to live there or leave. All shipments go through 1 location (ship or airport) and every box is checked. Then it can enter the enclosed area. Basically you have to setup a big prison. Half measures just end up right back here. So none of them want to hold Hamas responsible for this [BLEEP] storm? It's all Israel's fault? Everyone knows Israel doesn't play. You make a play and they will go scorched earth. Everyone knows this, especially Hamas, and that was their game plan. Now Israel is no longer in a defensive posture and is seen as the aggressor and that was the point.
Something needs to happen to stop this because 12K dead is ridiculous but who is going to do it? No one seems to want to stand up and say ENOUGH. I know it's not as simple as people want it to be but something needs to give. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Israel needs to let people know what a post-surrender Gaza will look like, then they might be more inclined to surrender.
