True.  But isn't that why Houston got rid of him?  This could be a side effect of Oakland having a ridiculous amount of cap space and not a whole lot to spend it on..  Plus, if Oakland likes a quarterback, Schaub could be a backup plan if that QB doesn't fall to him.   Or maybe they just really like Schaub, who knows.

Letting two of their best, young players walk in free agency. And then go out and sign/trade for guys over 30.

The NFL isn't some hive mind. Teams build their rosters differently. The Texans and Jaguars are definitely two teams that are going in different directions ideologically.

 

Also, there isn't a single competent person on this board that has absolutely ruled out the Jags taking a QB at #3.

To take it even further, Gabbert isn't "The Guy" in SF and SF has picks falling out of all of their pockets, they almost got him for free. The Raiders are trading for a guy who has a contract for great starter money and the Raiders aren't in a position where guys taken in the late round are unlikely to make their roster.

 

The Gabbert trade was baffling, but makes sense from the perspective of late round picks being practically worthless with a roster like the 49ers have, but the Schaub trade makes no sense at all. They should have just waited for him to be released.

Bridgewater could potentially fall as far as the Bengals at 24, maybe Cleveland at 26. It's not too far fetched to see him potentially fall to RD2 though. He's not an elite prospect like Luck and RGIII were coming out of college. HOU trading away Schaub to OAK is a good move on their end. OAK is just a terribly ran organization. I feel somewhat sorry for such a storied franchise.
