Houston / Oakland trade deal in the works for Matt Schaub

Quote:Please tell me Oakland intends to pay $11M for Schaub this year. That would be great. If they traded for him, then yes. They have to.
Unless Schaub agreed to take less as part of the trade.
Only a chump boos the home team!
This is more a random shuffling of backup quarterbacks. I don't see how it's any indication of QBs falling in the draft.

Quote:Not as bad as 49ers trading for Gabbert, but still pretty bad. no its actually worse, easily. Schaub wasn't good last year, is older, and is expensive, and likely would have been released had they just waited it out. Gabbert hasn't been good, but is only 24, and is cheap (relatively)
They're absolutely taking Bortles #1. This is great news for the Jags.

Quote:They're absolutely taking Bortles #1. Not convinced of this yet. Quote:Gabbert is one of the worst QBs of all time He might be....however, at the age of 24, there will always be someone thinking they can "fix" them.
Quote:Isn't he making 11 million this year? That's a ton of money for a backup True. But isn't that why Houston got rid of him? This could be a side effect of Oakland having a ridiculous amount of cap space and not a whole lot to spend it on.. Plus, if Oakland likes a quarterback, Schaub could be a backup plan if that QB doesn't fall to him. Or maybe they just really like Schaub, who knows.
Quote:Not convinced of this yet.I don't blame you, but I don't see the Texans going into the season with Fitzpatrick as their number one guy. And, well, I think Clowney isn't as good at standing up as he advertises. He's the prototypical 4-3 DE to me.

Quote:I can't say I understand what Oakland is doing this offseason. Being in Raiderland, I sure am enjoying shoveling poo all over every move they make this offseason.
I don't get it. Getting rid of Schaub means the Texans are taking Bortles? But keeping Henne means the Jaguars are not taking a QB at #3?
Some of you guys are really just throwing darts at the wall. Time to go back to GM school.
The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.
Quote:I don't get it. Getting rid of Schaub means the Texans are taking Bortles? But keeping Henne means the Jaguars are not taking a QB at #3?The NFL isn't some hive mind. Teams build their rosters differently. The Texans and Jaguars are definitely two teams that are going in different directions ideologically. Also, there isn't a single competent person on this board that has absolutely ruled out the Jags taking a QB at #3.

Quote:Not convinced of this yet. To take it even further, Gabbert isn't "The Guy" in SF and SF has picks falling out of all of their pockets, they almost got him for free. The Raiders are trading for a guy who has a contract for great starter money and the Raiders aren't in a position where guys taken in the late round are unlikely to make their roster. The Gabbert trade was baffling, but makes sense from the perspective of late round picks being practically worthless with a roster like the 49ers have, but the Schaub trade makes no sense at all. They should have just waited for him to be released. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I really don't see the upside here for the Raiders. Maybe the GM knows he's on the way out and wants to sabotage the team?
Quote:trollolin' ^^^ Quote:trollolin' ^^^Bridgewater could potentially fall as far as the Bengals at 24, maybe Cleveland at 26. It's not too far fetched to see him potentially fall to RD2 though. He's not an elite prospect like Luck and RGIII were coming out of college. HOU trading away Schaub to OAK is a good move on their end. OAK is just a terribly ran organization. I feel somewhat sorry for such a storied franchise. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky.
