Tag him?!

Do you know how much the tag would be for a WR? This past year it was 20 million. It’ll likely go up this offseason. You really want to give 22 million or more for 1 season of Calvin Ridley? And you still have to give up a 2nd rounder.

Yes. I am not losing Josh Allen. That's for sure. I also think, much like the Engram situation last off season that, they'll figure out a way to extend him reasonably. Again, still 5+ games left for him to put up or shut up. 

And, again, as cited numerous times, why would anybody have confidence in Baalke with a 2nd RD pick and be gung ho about it? Because his last two classes with those 2nd and 3rd RD picks have been ho-hum...if that.

I have more faith in Baalke's ability to work the cap, extend contracts, pinch pennies and evaluate known commodities in the free agency market more than I do with his scouting abilities, draft capital management and overall decision making in that arena.

Diggs is elite. He is what everyone hoped Ridley would be.

Maybe not disgruntled but see if there’s a true #1 available like when the Chiefs moved on from Hill, Texans and Hopkins or Adams and the Packers. Just go check around.

Agree.  Right now I'd keep my 2nd and $22 million, but that could change depending on how the rest of this season/post-season plays out.

Agree.  Right now I'd keep my 2nd and $22 million, but that could change depending on how the rest of this season/post-season plays out.

Things could definitely change these last 4 weeks and (hopefully) a playoff game or more.

But as of now, I'm not giving up a 2nd rounder and a lot of money for a guy who disappears and hasn't stepped up when he was needed most. These last 2 games without Kirk, he has been very bad.

the contract has to be favorable towards the Jags
Ridley doesnt have much performance based leverage, his money making time is now with Kirk out, and to show he can be relied on.
If Ridley wants to maximize the little value he has built up, then he will have to do it elsewhere

As the pass is thrown for the go ahead score you see Ridley walking towards the sidelines completely disengaged

He's done that multiple times. Earlier it was clearly shown when Trevor was running and threw it Zay, he was standing past the white or just still in the white. He didn't even react to the catch. He basically had already given up and walked off the field.

Some of the stuff earlier in the season I just thought was his lack of shape but not sure any more.

While every team could use a true #1 WR, I don't think the Jags needed what Ridley is offering them. Yes many including myself were hoping he actually was a #1 type WR but he hasn't been that. And he hasn't added anything that improves the offense in my opinion. Not only has the drops, penalties, wrong routes, etc... been a negative, but I also think he takes away from the others when we focus too much on him. I keep seeing Tee Higgins name thrown around. Not sure he is a true #1 either. What I think this team really needs is a true deep threat to compliment Engram, Kirk, and Zay. Force defenses to cover deep opening up the middle of the field. We have enough savvy route runners with good hands. We need a true deep play element.

Let's not read too much into that particular instance.  He pointed at the guys on defense he thought had just jumped off sides and looked at the ref on the sideline and when his head came back around the play was over.   It took me a couple of run throughs on the clip posted to jaguars.com, but that's my interpretation of what happened.

For the 2nd rounder and the big contract it isn't worth it. If the team can get a cap friendly deal that is one thing. I think at 29 he is going to be looking for one last big pay day. I doubt we resign him. He would have to catch fire right now to really even consider giving up a 2nd for him.

Wrong, they have drafted plenty of good WRs. The issue is every drafted WR that is great has been addicted to something other than football.

So far he hasn't been worth a 2nd and a contract extension.

I'd allocate my focus and finances towards Josh Allen this offseason and we target a player in FA or late in the draft.

He’s a very talented player which makes his stretches of sub-par performance even more aggregating. Thought it might be rust at first but it’s been more than enough time to shake that off. A lot of mistakes seem to be related to lack of attention to detail which is inexcusable.

Having a reliable receiver is important (see Patrick Mahomes). You need a player that is consistent, can catch, and get open.

Calvin is good at one of those 3. I hope he plays well in the last 4 games, but I don't see him getting good seperation against good defenders and I see him not being a reliable outlet for Trevor. Occasionally he extends a drive with a damn nice catch, but I don't think he's got "it".

And he's 29.

Glad he's here, but I don't think we'll miss him when he's gone.

This question will continue to come up for me:

"Is Baalke good enough to do anything with a late 2nd RD pick?".

I don't think he is. Which is why I think you need to work a deal out with him that's reasonable and see what happens in year two.

Better to have than to have not. It's one less roster spot to worry about fixing with a general manager that's clearly had better luck in free agency than he has with drafting players.
