Raiders reportedly have a "man crush" on Derek Carr

The only reason why I think this may be more truth than fiction is because McKenzie has never been good at keeping draft secrets from the media. Last year most people had the Raiders set to take DJ Hayden and lo and behold the Raiders traded back for him.

This year they may try to do the same but the Vikings and Bucs may throw a wrench in their plans.

So here is my draft scenario...what does everyone think?

Lets say Bortles/Bridgewater go 1-2 and Jags are on the clock...We aren't sold on Clowney so we trade back to somewhere between 6-9 and we pick up another second round pick.  We then Draft Eric Ebron, TE North Carolina at 6-9 of the first round, then get our highest rated QB in the 2nd round or now have the ammo to trade back into the first round if we need to go up and get someone like Garapolo.

Thoughts?

Nah a TE that early isn't what we need at the moment. I could see us taking a later round TE though..

We are not trading back if Clowney is there, and for a TE um no way

Good God, if we have to jump back into the first round for Garoppolo, we're doing it wrong.

If Clowney is on the board at our pick (in this scenario), we take all but 1 minute before they turn in that pick.

All this talk about Clowney not being motivated, etc. Isn't Gus the perfect HC for him? All you've been hearing about is how infectious Gus is. Players want to play for him. Well, in my opinion Clowney would then be the ultimate test to that theory. You fill a big need and he's the BAP. There's absolutely no other option, if it were to play out like the above.

Now If both Clowney and Bridgewater are there at #3, I would definitely have to take a long hard thought about where I'd go with that pick.

I don't see or get this criticism of Carr.

....so the Raiders are the team that seemingly has the most interest in Carr?....yeah, thats about par for the course for them of recent years...

All that does is strengthen the opinion that Carr is going to disappoint as a pro.

Me neither i dont see the flinchy fear of Gabbert i do see the "hope i dont get killed" early Eli Manning stuff though. Not really fear of the hit but of not making the play and getting hit for nothing.

Carr will stand in and take the shots he just wants to avoid them and still complete the pass. He just needs to learn that wont always happen and to slide better in the pocket left and right to create space instead of just backing up. No he isnt "afraid" and doesnt jump from phantom pressure a guy really does have to be in his face to affect him he just has enough arm to feel he can backfoot throws all day and avoid the hits.  I feel that is fixable at the NFL level as Eli and Favre both used to do the same thing.

That said i wouldnt take him unles we trade way back in the first or he lasts until our 2nd rounder and even then i might take a look at McCarron in the 2nd first.

I've been saying this since Carr was brought up on the old board, he is much more Cutler than Gabbert. Except he's 10x the leader Cutler is.

I know. This is the second time I have seen somebody mention this as a legitimate plan. No GM is thinking Crappolo in the first.

Browns head coach said Carr was the best natural thrower in the draft.  I doubt he's saying he's the best quarterback, but it's unusual for a head coach to make that kind of clear comparison leading up to the draft.

garoppolo is looking more and more like a stud to me. ive been watching some videos. watkins or mack in the first and then garoppolo early second would be awesome.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

This is like the third QB the Raiders are rumored to have a man crush on. First it was Bridgewater, then Bortles, now Carr. It's all BS.

That is a reach imo. Crapollo is a project. He played in a spread offense in FCS. Maybe he will be as good as Romo, but I dont think so.

I can't even see him in the second.  It's insane.  He's a 4th rounder at best.

There you go with the insulting name-calling again.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!
