He made Jim G look like a half way decent QB and I wish Trey Lance could have stayed healthy because I would have loved to see him actually get a chance in that system. Injuries took that away from him sadly.

edit: They had a winning season in 2021 as well. They've had winning seasons in 4 of their last 5.

Purdy has been statistically impressive. He plays from ahead like a freight train. As long as everyone around him is winning he looks great.

Arguing about pretty is pointless. He's a good QB, just not a great one. He's living proof that more QB success has to do with support than anything else.

Has 4 INTS, down 18 with nearly an entire 2nd half to play. There's plenty of time for a come back if he's truly him.

I wouldn't worry about that.

If Trevor had only a single bad game then no one would be harping on him right now.

Been a theme with the 49ers and their wins so far this season. 16+ carries for CMC and they've won every game. Less than 16 carries for CMC and they've lost every game. He currently has 11 carries.

I'm pretty sure they could hand him the ball on every play from here on out and the 49ers will still lose at this point. If they just want to throw off the statistical carries thing they can do that. They're not a play from behind team with a QB like Purdy.

Exactly and that's the point. It's just more proof that, that team doesn't go through Purdy, they just ask him to not screw it up.

Yes, a better team around him would hide some of these deficiencies. But they are still there and they need to be worked on. I'm tying Trevor directly to Doug. If Trevor doesn't fix those things, Doug needs to go.

That's because Trevor is being forced to be the ENTIRE Offense here, while Purdy is just being asked to manage the Offense there. Trevor has to carry this team on his back, while Purdy just can't mess it up.

49ers have the most QB friendly system/team in the entire league. There's a reason why they keep winning no matter who they plug in at QB.

Yes, the league front runner for MVP is in that position just because he doesn’t fark things up.  The cope is nuclear.

To be fair, he doesn’t just drop the ball for no reason. I’ll give him that.

Yes, Lamar Jackson is the league front runner for MVP because he doesn't fark things up. Finally your idiot [BLEEP] is coming to some senses.

We're definitely seeing a legit MVP candidature tonight, just not the one the trolls were touting.   Laughing

Darnold comes in for Purdy and moves them right down the field for an easy TD. Dare I say it.... Darnold for MVP?

Makes as much sense as calling for a guy that isn't even the best player on his own team to be league MVP.

The fact that the "front runner for league MVP" was benched in a 2 possession game with most of a quarter left says all you need to know of their thoughts about him and his ability to bring that team back LOL.

They didn’t want him to get hurt with not much of chance to come back that late is probably why he got “benched”

So you're saying he's not tough and/or the coach didn't believe he could lead two TD drives?

Down 14 with nearly half a quarter left to play... He was medically cleared to come back. He got benched for Darnold lol. It's ok to say it.

Laughable take. Brunell got us to the AFCCG .....twice. Pre and post Freddy T. Also, everything in post 3174.

I mean my goodness … on tank dells two deep balls they were complete busts ! No safety in the middle of the field corner outside leverage so he can just run a skinny post and completely get behind the defense ? Are we serious? And the TD what the heck have we never played a bunch set before ?

Multiple other receivers with no one in the vicinity and 0 pressure on a Backup o line ?

Watch stroud will end up looking like every other rookie QB for most of the rest of the year ….

We just managed to make a game so easy for a rookie it looked like he was playing against Rutgers when he was at Ohio state…

Pathetic .

Heads need to roll for this . At least figure out who wants to man up and do their fricking jobs . What these grown men are getting paid to sticking do .

What about Brunell's Oline? Could they actually run the ball? What about avg yard separation being below the league average what was that stat for his teams? Did you see how bad Mahomes looked today with him running for his life all game long?
No Fun

Brunell was not without his share of line issues, especially in 1999. Lawrence will probably surpass Brunell at some point, but to proclaim him better at this point in his career is just favoring him based on unrealized potential, IMO. Lets see how it plays out.

Brunell never threw for more than 20 TDs (twice) in his entire career here.

In 96 when they made the first AFCCG, he had 22 Total TDs (19 Passing, 3 Rushing), 20 INT and 14 Fumbles that season.

In 99 when they made the second AFCCG, he had 15 Total TDs (14 Passing, 1 Rushing), 9 INT and 6 Fumbles that season.

Don't get me wrong, I love Brunell, but Lawrence is absolutely better than he was.
