Caldwell Not Shopping Current Players....

Quote:Who smartly realized/ identified that the likely reason for his "struggles" this year was adapting to a new scheme. Thats how smart people get bargains....they see things that Joe public (you) apparently cannot.
So, since they run the same scheme he is likely to struggle there as well. This takes away from your premise that he is guaranteed to sign long term there. If he cant pick it up he is gone and they are out 2 picks for a 12 game trial run.

Quote:The Cardinals got a conditional 7th round pick, and are picking up most of Brown's salary.

Cardinals: So... how about Levi Brown?  Want him?

Steelers: Hmm... what do you want for him?

Cardinals: A 6th?

Steelers: That's way too much!

Cardinals: Fine a 7th...

Steelers: Conditional 7th!

Cardinals: ...C'mon!  It's practically a UDFA at that point.

Steelers: Conditional 7th, and you pick up his salary.

Cardinals:  ...Fine.  Deal!

Potentially, the Cardinals are saying "Here Steelers, have Levi Brown on us.  We'll even pay his salary, and you don't even have to give us anything!"

LMAO!!!!

He has struggled last year too. I love how the reason behind everything is he blocked one guy. And he is elite. No. When I was a receiver if someone was coming in my job was to stop them. Even though I am supposed to go out for a pass.

If there is no time to throw the ball or constant pressure and no help. Then no he is not elite no where near close. Boselli Would give the QB time to throw. Monroe did not.

Except Brown stinks, and isn't/ wasn't and never will be the player that Monroe is.

Levi Brown, I think -maybe- IIRC, had one good year, ala Marcedes, and pretty much has been average to below average otherwise.

Quote:I bought things cheaper before. And had to pay for maintenance down the road. You get what you pay for. The ravens have no belief nor ties to Monroe. They know if he stinks they can let him walk end of season.

Ozzie payed what he thought was fair. For a struggling tackle.

Where is this coming from, in what way shape or form was Monroe struggling!?!?!

To be honest, I'd rather have just traded Brown away for free to a team than have to pay his salary for a conditional 7th...  No lie...

Maybe, maybe not. Better coaching?...., I dunno, actual improvement as he gets acclimated.?....

I wouldn't assume that Monroe is going to remain stagnant. Do you not eventually learn/ become better at something over time/ repetition?....so can Monroe with the new scheme.

Caldwell didn't get "taken to school." Let's stop being sensationalist.

Step one: Grasp the concept that Monroe was going to be allowed to walk in free agency. You may or may not think this was going to be a good move by the jags.

Step two: Don't underestimate either GM with this trade. Newsome understood step one (see above).

Step three: We got something (two draft selections ... for a team that will build through the draft) where we wouldn't have received anything after season-end.

Step four: re-read steps one through three.

Finally: we have 10 picks - this doesn't necessarily mean we will use them where they fall. A 4th and 5th could turn into an additional 3rd - or something comparable. They also have to negotiate with him after the next 12 games for another contract. He may be allowed to walk again, or franchised ... or signed long-term.

No one was fleeced, or taken to school. It was a trade that made sense for both sides.

Awww ... nevermind! SMHROTFLMAO #Becausejaguars #Shadricksightings #Moodachay we're moving to LA/London.

You're Welcome.

I actually agree with you. We did get a pithy return in draft choices.

Nobody said Brown was good.  But essentially... they may be paying him to play for the Steelers for a little while, if that condition isn't met.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

If the Richardson trade never takes place. There would not be all this talk about a above average but no where near elite player.

Maybe he will, but I can tell you no matter how many times I try I still cant dunk.

Quote:If Caldwell was thinking that then he's even dumber than I thought.

There should have been zero consideration for "re-signing" MoJo next year.....he's a RB and one who plays a physical style and is approaching 30 years old....only STUPID GM's do stuff like that.

And how dumb do you think Caldwell is?  Dumber then you thought when?  This last week?  After the draft?

He's still bitter that his high school coach couldn't "coach him up" and make a varsity starter out of him.

Quote:Don't know where you're getting the "4th" from.

If the Jags let Monroe walk, he would have likely got one of the biggest offseason contracts in free agency. Compensatory pick judgment is determined largely by the amount of money the free agent signs for.

Had the Jags only signed cheap/ short term free agents themselves, they could have garnered as much as 2 third round compensatory picks for Monroe.

The more expensive free agent that Jax signed in the offseason, would have netted the compensation less, however.
LOL what?!?!?!?!

In 2012 Baltimore lost Ben Grubbs (after being voted to pro bowl in 2011), Jarret Johnson, Brandon McKinney, Haruki Nakamura, Cory Redding, and Timo Zbikowski all to free agency.

They only signed Sean Considine and Corey Graham......and you know what they got?

They got 4th round, 5th round, 6th round, and 7th round pick for compensatory before the 2013 draft........

In turn during that same year, Atlanta lost Kelvin Hayden, Curtis Lofton, James Sanders, and Eric Weems. They also didn't sign anyone and for 2013 compensatory picks they only got 4th and three 7th round picks.....

How are you figuring Eugene Monroe would net us a 3rd round pick...let alone 2??????

Draft selections are currency for GMs.

Imagine Caldwell trading back into the 2nd or third round by using these newly acquired picks.

It is very conceivable that this deal ends up putting a longterm quality player on the roster.  And he'll be cheap for 4 years.
