Mike Brown

I like Brown. He could end up #4 or 5 on the depth chart - and his lack of speed is going to prohibit a major role - but I think he's a quality role player.

Unfotunately, Mike Brown appears to be too slow for a full time role (although he may actually play faster than his 40 time).  I'd like to use him in some gadget plays to keep the defense off balance since he was a former QB at Liberty.  Oh wait, we also have Denard to do some of that as well.

He is an average #3/#4 who has the potential to be a solid #2 in my opinion.

Like some have said, Mike Brown is just a guy...Cecil shorts is also just a guy....but thats all we have right now because we have a selfish wr who has no "team" values....

so...lets get Sammy...

Interesting you mentioned that because I recall back in the day when #2 WRs were really good whereas in todays league the #2 WR seems to be interchangeable.

Years ago the #2 was Reggie Wayne, John Taylor, Tory Holt ...

Chad Johhnson and T.J Houshmandzadeh also came to mind.

Blackmon doesn't count for a spot until he returns.

TC WR roster could look like

Watkins, Shorts, Sanders, Brown, Doss, Ebert, Taylor, Williams and some other camp bodies

If Blackmon is not reinstated for week one (I think he'll be given an additional 8 game suspension to start season)

Watkins, Shorts, Sanders, Doss, Ebert, Brown are the 6 we keep.

When/if Blackmon returns Brown and Ebert will be the ones fighting to stay on the roster.

Blackmon, Watkins, Shorts, Sanders, Doss looks pretty solid to me.

Now, say we don't draft Watkins. Then I assume we draft a couple WRs later in the draft, round 3 and round 4.

Martavis Bryant and Mike Davis maybe.

if Blackmon doesn't return at all we're looking at Shorts, Sanders, Doss, Brown, Bryant and Davis.

Shorts may or may not be here after this season, FA to be and his injury history isn't great.

I think we need to hope Blackmon comes back. Because as "deep" as this WR class is. I don't see many superstars other than Watkins, Evans, and Lee. And those guys will be gone before round 1 is over.

Quote:Yes it would. It just sucks that the receiver spot has so many question marks. Shorts likes to collect concussions and Blackmon likes to collect suspensions.
How many concussions did Shorts have last year?

Either two or three. Can't quite remember, but IIRC they were in quick succession.

0.

I rolled on the floor laughing, With all those missed reads in the pocket Manziel had to improvise. If he had just stuck to the play book (or just be Teddy Bridgewater) A&M would have been in the National Title hunt late

Someone said Cecil Shorts has to prove he can stay healthy and they're right.  He had two concussions in 2012 and went on IR.  He was also put on injured reserve late last year and had surgery to repair a sports hernia.  I disagree with the poster who said he's just a guy, he's a capable receiver when he's healthy although he came down with a case of the dropsies late last year (the sports hernia might have something to do with that).

I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Yeah, he looked like JAG last year because he was running around with a severe sports hernia. That had to affect his explosiveness one would think.

No stop reaching. Like others have said sports hernia slowed him up. Also no blackmon or equal WR on the other side and yea Gabbert/Henne throwing the rock to him.

I think he's more than just a guy.  He's smart, fluid, and has good hands.  I'd like to see him stick as a #3 or #4 WR.

that sounds about right if he is able to play faster than his 40 time

I was under the impression he's actually pretty fast. What WAS his 40 time?
