Quote:So early Friday morning myself and three buddies are all headed to Kentucky for riding around in a limousine and visiting distilleries. As of now, we're going to hit up Buffalo Trace and Woodford Reserve on the way in after a few hours' stop at a casino. Hit downtown Louisville Friday night then get chauffeured to Jim Beam, Maker's Mark, and Heaven Hill on Saturday. Do find yourself some real moonshine for a really good time as well.

Wut? Somebody say somethin' about four city fellers stumblin' around in the woods offering to buy moonshine?
Quote:Wut? Somebody say somethin' about four city fellers stumblin' around in the woods offering to buy moonshine? Kinda. 'Cept three of these city fellers grew up on farms. We may dwell in the city, but we ain't forgot where we came from.

You guys are scaring me a little bit. No squealing like a pig in the booze thread.
Beer #1 of this fine Wednesday evening is open and being consumed. Unfortunately it was the only one in the fridge. Back on the bright side - a beer run (walk) is only about 54-60 paces round trip. I know there are some tequila drinkers on the board, so I thought I'd share:
I just picked up tickets to Tequila Fest! If anyone wants to recommend a tequila I'm all ears! I went to the inaugural one, one of the drunkest large groups of people I've ever been around haha. https://winecoastcountry.com/events/avil...a-festival We show less advertisements to registered users. Oro Azul Anejo - find it. Drink it leisurely from a snifter if possible. Best Anejo Tequila I've ever had for under 100 bucks a bottle. Quote:Well, we are passing through West Virginia on the way. If you want the best stuff on the planet, head east to Franklin County, VA. But still, just about anything in that region would do you more gooderly. On a completely unrelated note (get it... unrelated?)... Miller Fortune is liquid danger. 6.9% alcohol, but it's smooth... could get you in trouble real quick, like.

Both close enough to know where to go to get the good stuff!

Well, I'm on #10 of my 12pack. I know we have many whiskey and scotch drinkers on here. I've been there done that (waaaay too much in my younger days). Sooo, any wine drinkers here? Here lately I've gotten out of the whiskey and been drinking just beer or wine. Kinda new at wine and we've been trying a bunch of different wines. I find I like sweeter red wines. I'm definitely not a wine aficionado but would love to learn so e more about it. I've got a few I enjoy ( and they aRent even in boxes!!) maybe the grape/wine guy can get in here and help me out. ( sorry I don't remember your name because there are too many numbers in ur name). So what kind of wines do you guys like? My wife and I enjoy mascago and Pinot noir. Cupcake makes a good Pinot noir for a cheap price. I thinks it is about 8-10 bucks depending on whether it's on sale or not. Any help or suggestions?

It was meant to be temporary when they switched the board but no one will help me switch it back. There aren't really too many wines I don't like, but I kind of make it a point to drink a lot of white wines because most guys brush them off and go straight for something like a Cab. I'm not familiar with Muscago but I'm positive it's based on a muscat grape which is indeed on the sweeter side. Here, we use them to make dessert wines and ports. If you could find some Orange Muscat wine, I'd recommend that -- it's very sweet and unique. A wine in my area called Quady makes a good one but it's probably strictly a dessert wine for most folks. I'd also recommend you try a good Riesling wine. They vary in taste depending on the region but you cab probably nail down a sweeter one pretty quick if you try a few different bottles. Along the lines of Pinot, you might find Shiraz to be something you enjoy. It's another wine that's taste depends on the region. It's also called Syrah, the former is usually thought to be styled in a sweeter fashion though. Hope that helps! If you'd like specific labels to try, I'll be happy to point some out to you, but fair warning -- they'll all be Ca wines. |
