I don't understand ratings when they talk about a surge around the season finale time.  Are there new viewers coming to watch the season finale??  Or is it something to do with people not DVRing the show and watching it live?

 

IIRC, it comes from Nielsen, which includes DVR tapings.  It's included as part of their survey which is still a manual process, people writing down what they watch/record and mailing it back.  They don't snoop electronically.  But I would imagine that they probably have moved on to electronic diaries for those who have internet access.

My wife and I did Arbitron for about a year and a half. We carried around (in our pockets) a beeper sized device that tracked any radio or tv that we were listening to or watching. Got paid for it. Not a bad deal.

I think Rick is back and then some. The gardener, nice Rick is gone. We will see a new Rick come season 5 I think. He's going to be ruthless I think. Above and beyond when he was the "Ricktator". The "switch" has been hit. It's on, and I love it, Ha!
