Did Johnny Manziel's Pro Day sway your draft choice?

#1

I ran a poll a few weeks ago and Manziel came in third. Behind Bridgewater then Clowney respectively. This was before their pro days. And while I believe Clowney is the best overall prospect and Bridgewater is still the best QB, I still chose Manziel. He could be the most electrifying player the Jaguars have ever had. Ever. He had a phenomenal Pro Day that proved how coachable he can be, without loosing what makes him special.

You should make this a poll..

Manziel is our guy if we're looking for a dualthreat QB

A players "pro-day" (or combine results for that matter) should never significantly sway your opinion unless you are simply flawed in your evaluation ability. That goes for any player.

You'd have to be pretty much football [BLEEP] for it to impact your opinion either way.

By duel threat you mean league substance abuse program and IR?
If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.

So you think he'll be in the substance abuse program because he was being a college kid and drinking?

I'd love to see Manziel and Khan share a drink in the new pool

Preeetty much this.  Manziel is still a mid first rounder and behind Bridgewater.

....and I was saying what I said not meaning to sound "against" Manziel". I would have no problem with the Jags drafting him....just that if you liked Manziel before this pro day, you should still like him now, and vice versa....

Right; I should have added "IMO."  I'm not against Manziel, either, but based on what I've seen, that's where I'd put him.

If we draft him at 3, I'll be okay with it, but I'll hold out on praising the pick.

I am a fan of Manziel and if I were making the pick I would take him before any other QB available.....

However, like I have said in other topics, I still think these guys aren't day one starters and I don't think we have a strong enough team (i.e. Seattle or 49ers) to hide their flaws while they continue to develop.

So while I am happy with his pro day, I still don't think he should be taken #3 overall. But if Dave does decide to go with a QB at #3, then I would prefer it to be Manziel.

I think if you were on the fence, the pro day of Manziel might just pull you down into his camp. It was impressive. And even the things that weren't perfect (throwing low on short passes at the end), were not huge deals that would be hard to fix. I think I might be on the Manziel bandwagon. The proday, the interveiw, it was all impressive to me. But I expect Caldwell to have a more through opinion of Manziel beforehand (based on lots and lots of tape) that I don't.

That said, from a guy who wasn't so sure about him ahead of time, he looked good. Sounded good too. I actually feel like he is less risky now. Seemed real coachable.

No, because the tape shows what he did today. Pro days aren't anything to sway your decision; only to make it more solid. This performance solidified my QB ranking. I've had Manziel ahead of Bridge since I watched the Duke game. I've seen him make the throws, he has a strong arm (not sure what the scouts are looking at) and he is very accurate. However, his leadership and will-to-win were shown very brightly that game. I'm not sure where we go at #3. If we go QB and Manziel is still there, I say pull the trigger. If we go DE, then Mack or Clowney would be fine as well.

I do like that he made it more like a game. Pads and uniform with huddles/play calling; and some DE (broomstick) play. Overall, good showing. But nothing to take too hard as to change your choice.
