I still don't know that he's worth taking #3 overall, but with his short stout build and mobility and gutsy play in college he reminds me of Brunell before the knee injury. I could live with that level of QB.

Bias? Yeah, you bet I'm biased. He handled the pressure of playing QB at Texas A&M so well that his own father said Johnny would be happier in jail than on a football field. His physical skills put him at a first-round level, no doubt, but I don't want Kerry Collins 2.0 to set the Jaguars back by another decade when he up and quits during his third year.

You do not draft a QB because he is excited, has buzz.

You draft the QB who will become the guy, when you start winning. There will be buzz and excitement.

Right now Johnny is  SHINY, ohhh got to have that.

I would say he's performed the best of the qbs so far as far as pro days go. (and yes I know people dont think pro days matter) but he's handled the pressure of the situation very well which is a positive

 

 

Good eye, Gus seemed to notice in particular Manziel's response to pressure too.

“The atmosphere and everything that was involved and then to come out and perform like he did, that was great,” Bradley said. “I think that’s no different than how he’s performed all year, right? Perform under pressure. Felt like more of a pressurized environment with a lot of eyes watching him and he did a great job.”  -Jacksonville’s Gus Bradley

NFL Network's Mike Mayock was impressed with Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel's Pro Day.


Pro Days rarely change the opinion of an experienced evaluator, but can highlight concerns. Mayock said that wasn't the case with Manziel. "He can make every throw mechanically," Mayock said. "His arm strength is on par with that of (UCF QB Blake) Bortles. He had that beautiful spontaneity on the run and he's confirmed many things. He's not opening up questions for me like (Louisville QB Teddy) Bridgewater did." Johnny Football is receiving universally positive reviews for his performance in College Station, but it's a bigger story when a player doesn't ace his Pro Day, like Bridgewater.

I think he is Gus top QB in the draft.  I just dont know about Dave.

I appreciate the chance to see the throws again...Johnny is not elite quarterback talent. He is the most dynamic of the so called big three, but he's not near superior at the game.

 

The velocity of his passes is not great. The free safeties of the NFL will ruin his deep throws.

 

The helmet was for what? Was it wired up for some reason? The broom guy was off a bit, I think. Bad idea to place dummies on the field when they appear to be inches taller than the thrower.

 

I would not draft any of the so called big three. I would draft A. J. McCarron in a later round than one.

Doesn't matter what the results of those games were. You are not to compare one quarterback against the other. You compare the pro quarterback prospect against NFL standards. 

 

McCarron exhibits the most amount of elite-level talent since Andrew Luck. I would like to draft him, but I would also like the Jaguars to enter the realm of NFL-caliber offense at some point. To do that they have to raise the talent level of the entire offense.
