(This post was last modified: 04-12-2024, 08:28 PM by flgatorsandjags. Edited 1 time in total.)

Here is a list of most of last years top 30 visits.

Edge was the most then corner

Didn't draft either till the 5th lol

Drafted 2 out of the 30 and our first 4 picks we didnt even bring in. Could we see the same this year?

It'll be interesting to see what happens with Ridley and Allen in just a few months. I wouldn't rule out WR being a top priority on their list if a good one drops late on the opening night of the draft as well.

We've seen how important Zay is.   He'll be back next season, but I'd love his air apparent to be someone picked in one of the first two rounds.    I still think an interior offensive lineman should be one of the first two picks.    I think a tall, incredibly fast receiver with good hands could open up a lot for our other receivers and our TE group.

Just a reference point. Below is a list of the receivers the Jags met with this off season in various places. May give a clue what they are looking for.

Malik Nabers WR  6' 200lb, 4.35
Rome Odunze WR  6'3'' 215lb, 4.45
Josh Cephus WR  6'3'' 185lb, 4.55
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint WR  6'2'' 195lb, 4.49
Brian Thomas Jr. WR  6'4'' 205lb, 4.33
Terique Owens WR  6'3'' 221 4.51
Tez Walker WR  6'2''  200lb, 4.36
Ramel Keyton WR  6'3'' 197lb, 4.51
Tahj Washington WR  5'10'' 184lb, 4.52
Tyrese Chambers WR  6' 192lb, 4.55

Its kind of odd we havent had top 30 visits with Mitchell or DeJean, my top 2 corners. I wonder if they havent met with them because they are the top 2 and dont need to see anything else, they dont think they will be there when they pick, dont want other teams to know they are interested, or we are not interested. It would be odd if we arent interested in the top 2 corners imo, i dont think that is it though

Might they have met with either of them at the Senior Bowl or Combine?

There have been no reports of us meeting with either.  There have been reports of us meeing with every other top corner though.   Its possible we have stayed away from those 2 so teams dont think we are interested as well.

I am thinking they either did a remote meeting or a "stealth" one. I can only guess the strategy. After the FA moves they have made the Jags can go a ton of multiple ways making them a wild card which make other teams nervous. The link below is what I have been watching. They do a nice job posting the date last updated and their source of the visit.

It's also kind of odd to me they haven't met with any of these guards that can take the RG spot next year and can be good depth this year if any of the Inteior oline get hurt. We now have a good starting oline but no depth on the interior. Hodges looked decent last year but he was a 7th round pick and missed all of his rookie season with injury. My top interior olineman is probably Cooper Beebe, who I think would be a great pick at 48. Christian Haynes would be great value as well along Frazier.

Any of those 3 at 48 would be a great pick and we could actually breath if any of our interior lineman get hurt. I belive all 3 can play any of the interior oline positions but Beebe is my top interior guy at 48. Hopefully at least one of the 4 will be there to give us that option depending on how the board falls. It's highly likely that one of those 3 will get injured at some time and we have nobody that can come in with confidence. We have depth at tackle but we have to add one guy on the interior.

One injury on the interior and we can end up in a situation with our oline like last year. We can only pray Hodges is that guy but we can't go into this season counting on it.

I agree. (where is o-linematters when you need him?)  LOL.

If you look at it. Here are the risks.
1. If Morse gets hurt you are down to Fortner.
2. If Scherff get nicked up you have unproven Tugboat.
3. There is no one behind Ezra.
4. Little can backup either side. We have maybe the best swing tackle in the league. This is a one year luxury. However both he and Cam are on the last year of their contracts. We do nothing now and we get to overpay for a FA, trade draft picks to move up or overpay and give away draft picks next year.  (Kind of the same thing the 49ers want someone (ANYONE PLEEASE!) to do for a receiver)

If you're picking up interest because of how this appears, so are other GMs.  Our front office would know it presents a certain level of intention so perhaps they are staying away to make it appear that they are really interested when they in fact are really not and hoping someone will instead jump in front of them to select one or both so that our real target falls to us.

You could play this game out with levels upon levels of "I know that you know that I know that you know...etc".  In the end, I wouldn't read too much into it.

Hope he doesn't do too great so he drops to round 2 so the Jaguars can trade up to get him. Having Armstead and Newton as inside pass rushers would help Allen and Walker become even more effective.

Glad they were.  This year's IDL class is short on complete players and long on those needing development.  Not saying the latter will not develop. It has always seemed to me those needing to develop either don't or come "on-line" the last year of their contract.....

If we can get cooper and zach that is immediate development depth

I like it but then I remember Trevor averaged the 2nd least amount of time to throw in the NFL and Travis Etienne averaged less than 4 yards per carry. Would be a complete failure to not address OL with a high end pick if not both.

I like it but then I remember Trevor averaged the 2nd least amount of time to throw in the NFL and Travis Etienne averaged less than 4 yards per carry. Would be a complete failure to not address OL with a high end pick if not both.
The biggest reason for this was we had the worst starting center in the league and arguably the worst LG.  With a heathy Ezra and a top half of the league center it should be like night and day as long as Cleveland gets back to his play before the injury.

ABOUT US
The Jungle Forums is the Jaguars' biggest fan message board. Talking about the Jags since 2006, the Jungle was the team-endorsed home of all things Jaguars.

Since 2017, the Jungle is now independent of the team but still run by the same crew. We are here to support and discuss all things Jaguars and all things Duval!
