I am ok with that when it happens. I am ok with foreign nationals being temporarily separated from their young children when they are caught coming here illegally. I'm not saying separate them as punishment, I'm saying I'm indifferent to whether they are separated or not and will let the border patrol handle it as they see fit without judgement. Young children running on their own through the desert or being carried here under cover of darkness to illegally hop a border is abusive to the child. Many of which are of the age where they know what they are doing is illegal and they shouldn't be doing it, but hey mom and/or pops says it's ok so we're doing it. Great example those parents are. I have to wonder how respectful of laws and boundaries those children will be when they grow up.What happens when everyday US citizens get taken to Jail for a Crime? They get seperated from their children. It happens literally Thousands of times a day in this country and he acts like it's some unique situation. Half or more of the thousands of people in prison were single parents and guess what happened to them when they broke the law? They lost custody of their kids! I swear people have become brain dead and need a reason to cry. Mike maybe one of those blue blood liberals that cannot see common sense. I thought there might have been some hope but losing faith.
The Trump administration did not keep the kids in the same building with the adults. That is the problem.

Obama separated a few children, and it was incidental to his policy. Trump separated thousands of children, and it was a point of emphasis of his policy. Trump supporters deny this. They make excuses. But Trump supporters also say that Obama was weak on immigration and Trump was strong because Trump sent a message that we are separating kids, and Obama wasn't sending that message. So we know the truth. Kids were separated, sent to different cities, even when there were better options, and it was done to demonstrate cruelty. You and L2L are both smarter than me. Bunnie probably is too. I happen to know things you don't, but that's not important. The big difference is my ethics say "play by the rules you want your opponent to play by" while yours say "make sure you hit him hard first, then you won't have to care what rules he plays by.". My ethic is compatible with multi-party democracy. Yours is not.

You are welcome to your opinion and up to now everything has been cool. Discussions of opinions is how we work through issues. I do not agree you are the ultimate judge of the bold statement above. I am an independent. My family for years were active register democrats. About 5-10 years ago they left the party. The reason was you were expected to follow the party line or were chastised much like you have been attempting here. Many of the discussions just run in circles as there was no other truth but their truth. This is my main issue with the Democrats. I am not saying this as a negative but more an indication of how some things come across. I welcome alternative ideas, but those based on all the facts and situations.

I also have a grandfather who has been a Republican since the 70s and loves Trump. It's gotten harder to talk to him about politics too. We all want to chastise each other.

Oh, my ethics are superior to yours as well. Unlike you I don't need a spinal Slinky to keep my feet under me while my position flaps in the prevailing breeze of public opinion.
