I was either too old for 90210 or too metal, but anybody who defined themselves by characters on the show were folks that I kept at a reasonable social distance. My primary memory of Richard was all of his guest spots on Letterman. Dave always brought him on, and gave him a hard time, but you could tell that he genuinely cared. It was probably a bit, hopefully Richard was in on the gag. It seemed like some of the times Dave would get him just a little too uncomfortable. But he'd always welcome him back.
