This seems like an odd thread for that post. 

Anyways, I though Mac Jones looked pretty good. I'd be happy to swap him for a 2nd, were that opportunity there, but I'm also happy to keep him as our backup. I've never thought Beathard was a good enough backup. He has a noodle arm. Unfortunately, I don't think Jones will resign here.

Very possible. I was just looking at it with the thought in mind of giving Darnold every chance to fail. If he stinks it up for 3 or 4 weeks it's a no question decision to put the new kid in and ride out the season no matter what. People will be ok if he has some stinkers because they already seen Darnold is no good.

You start the new kid right away and he struggles, you're then going to have people wondering/asking to see if Darnold would give them a better chance at winning. At that point though you can't pull the rookie, you're pretty much forced to ride it out with him.


He went to a team that had a top 5 rushing attack and a top 5 defense lol. They won 10 games and made the playoffs. I'd hardly call that an impossible situation he was thrust into.

Mac Jones made the pro bowl his first year in New England, when Josh McDaniels was the OC.  But when McDaniels left, Belichick took Matt Patricia, who had never coached offense his entire life, and made him the offensive coordinator.  Then Belichick took Joe Judge, the special teams coach, and made him the quarterback coach.  

That is malpractice on a grand scale.

Yeah, Belichik was believing his own press clippings. Like someone said above, he was exposed for his real skill level when Brady left. The only good years he has other than with Brady was with Bledsoe.

I never saw this hate you're referring to. Unless you're saying that the people that didn't want Minshew starting over Trevor are "Minshew haters". Or are you referring to people talking about Minshew's shortcomings? Because they still exist. He's not a QB1 right now because he's a stud. He's a QB1 because the Raiders have jack [BLEEP] for options right now.

There were multiple people that said Minshew sucks.  Some said he would never be a starting QB and here we are, hes now a starter in LA.  The Raiders could have drafted another QB or brought in another QB but they went with Minshew.  He has shortcomings but so have other QBs that have succeeded in this legaue.  He gave the Colts a chance last year and looks like he will have another opportunity in LA.  No backup QB make more than Minshew.

Minshew is a serviceable QB that can step into a starting role. He's not elite and he can't make the elite throws.

You can’t watch Minshew and Geno play and think they’re the same.

There’s a reason Minshew keeps bouncing from team to team.

Minshew will probably be on the Panthers next year and then the Jets or something.

All these arguments have their point, but we should have still kept Minshew on the cheap when we had the chance. Trading him was ridiculous. However, for Minshew the trade clearly worked in his favor, so it’s all water under the bridge. I still really enjoy his energy as a presence in the league.

Nah, it made sense to do. There was still a contingent of people that wanted him to start over Trevor and the noise would have only gotten louder once Trevor had string of bad games in year 1 and the first half of year 2.
