I went and voted this morning at around 10:30.  When I went to cast my ballot I was the 40th person to vote in my precinct.  I found that kind of both shocking and sad.  Granted I live in a very rural area with not a huge population, but normally there are way more votes than that cast by that time on voting day.

There was also the other county offices, some judges, the prosecutor, and the public defender.
Technically our member of Congress and our senator were up and each drew opponents but the opponents failed to raise a credible campaign.

Yeah the county commission was the only nonpartisan race.  That one's a final decision.  The others were just picking a nominee for the general election in November.

It is sad. The primaries are where real change generally can be made, but most people are utterly ignorant to it and instead of doing their civic duty in the primaries they complain about their options in the general.

For what it's worth, when I voted early the location had a slow but steady stream of voters. Not busy like the general usually is, but getting voters.

I got my mail in ballot and only recognized two candidates- one being Rick Scott. Who the hell is John Columbus?
I have no idea who should be "state committeeman." They even have a separate vote for "state committeewoman." Why the two separate categories?
Then they have eight people running for "Precinct Committeeman," including the ubiquitous Jim Overton, the other candidate I recognize, because he is ALWAYS running for something.
I looked up the candidates for School Board, to see if any of them would say they oppose shutting down my neighborhood school, and none of them say a thing about it. All their websites spout the same pablum about educating the kids, etc.

How are rent prices over there? Ours nearly doubled during 2021 and 2022.  And they haven't gone back down.  We gotta grow.

Clay county had < 20% turnout, not much on the ballot and most you knew who was winning.

The Circuit judge race was screwed up because both Clay and Nassau were going to be wiped out by the turnout in Duval. Even though it was low turnout everywhere, Duval still has a 2 to 1 ratio. With less republican turnout in Duval, haven't checked, it's a way to manipulate the "nonpartisan" races.

Also seeing weird results where Clay was split on that race, where unless people were just picking the 1st name, it wouldn't make sense that it was close. Under voting could cause some issues with it just picking the 1st name.


St Johns picked the RINO but that was ensured when the former sheriff entered the race. Trump for some reason endorsed him even though it looks like he probably covered up a murder. Trump should have told him to drop out and gotten behind the former golfer if he wanted the RINO out.
