Trevor Lawrence: Franchise QB (TL Discussion, Merged Threads)

(This post was last modified: 08-31-2024, 10:50 PM by Jag149. Edited 1 time in total.)

LOL Kaepernick did all that crap originally because he was benched for Blaine Gabbert. His spoiled entitled rich kid was pouting is what happened. It was all ego. Yes his parents were rich and he wanted for nothing growing up. Later the next day when the uproar began he glomed on to the reason.

When I look at Anthony I see Kaepernick. He'll be out of the league soon enough, regardless of how much the mainstream media wants him to be great.

huh Kaepernick was actually good.

Of course the attempts from Shotgun will go down. It's the most effective way to assert the belief in a true play action passing attack in order to push the ball downfield.

This feels more like an indictment on Fortner's lack of strength. 80% of the pass snaps came from the gun last year, with no running game for defenders to truly fear.

Morse should hold it down better physically. Being able to run it and having Lawrence undercenter opens up this offense tremendously.

It's fixing to take off finally.

Just putting this here before the season starts.

Trevor is going to shut a lotttttttttt of a people up this year. He's getting over 30TD's this year. This is the year we see him take that step into the elite QB's.

I'm all in on the Trevor Train.

A lot of that is explainable though. It's a broken record by now, but, the injuries that Lawrence sustained overtime in conjunction with a depleted WR room really did a number on this team.

The offensive line has been putrid in run blocking and pass protection since 2022 to begin with. Play calling and Lawrence's ability with familiar personnel was able to overcome this problem.

With Zay Jones in and out of the line up and Kirk lost the same game Lawrence had his foot/ankle stepped on, it was all downhill really.

It's promising. A lot of it will come down to how well the line can get the run game going so Lawrence can operate under center. BTJ and Davis running streaks downfield. Kirk working slants, drags and digs underneath. Sneak in Duvernay and Washington here and there. It's going to be a fun year on offense, for sure.

Hopefully people forget about Engram underneath with so much focus on the over the top stuff as well. Took him in my fantasy team this year. I don't expect the high volume catches to be there, BUT, if that last preseason game in ATL was any indication of what he's going to be doing? I'll take the TD's over the 100+ catches all day, every day.

He's still a match-up problem for a good portion of defenses in the NFL. I don't think there's too many LB's that can keep pace with him, and, you're NOT going to cheat up too much with safety help because it'll leave you exposed deep, or, worse, potentially a swing pass opportunity to Etienne and Bigsby, something that doesn't get utilized enough in this offense.

I think a lot of people will be surprised that BTJ isn't just going to be a deep threat. His horizontal speed will be just as dangerous as his vertical speed. He has that rare, "I'll just flat out run away from you and there's nothing you can do about it" type of speed.

Doug loves running crossers etc. and I bet we see BTJ used on those quite a bit to take advantage of his speed. We've already seen him win on those routes quite a few times (and easily) this preseason even with the small sample size.

and a wide catch radius with larger than average hands for an NFL WR.  What's not to like?

He needed it as a very young player coming out of college. That's the effect of NFL growth though, and why guys like Maason Smith and Javon Foster need that year or two in the League to put on a man body. I just hope Trevor's hands got stronger too.

He was bumpin' uglies with Mrs. Lawrence in the off season. They say women make weak legs. Never believed in that. Women make you stronger. Especially the legs.

I hope that doesn't say anything about his faith in the O-Line... If he comes out Sunday in a guardian cap it's going to be a long season.   Wink

I took him too. Smart move. But stop playing PPR, man. PPR is garbage.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.
