Did y'all hear there was a hurricane about?
It's true. Flippancy aside, I hope there are no deaths. Sadly, there are some who are losing everything they have at this very moment. The surge is expected to be 20' in some places. Makes sense considering the storm is careening into a geologic cul-de-sac. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
No power this morning. The neighbor’s old roof shed shingles everywhere.
Absolutely insane prices. And for Dodge products, which adds to the insanity.

That's just criminal. I was driving behind a Silverado this morning and that thing had to be around $80K. It was a great looking truck and it had some nice upgrades but no way in hell would I pay those prices for a vehicle.

Was going to cut grass today before this storm, but damn it’s rained all night my property is a swamp again
Hurricane Milton has been upgraded to a Cat 5 hurricane. It’s going to tear the hell out of Central Florida.
I have to change the front brakes on my truck and mow the lawn today before the rain starts.

It started raining here in Melrose around 5:00 AM and is just now easing up. After rain pretty much all day yesterday the ground is pretty soaked and the back portion of my property is under water. After Helene I only had a couple of trees to clean up that were blown over, and I still haven't been able to clean up much of the other debris such as downed limbs. With the ground as soaked as it is if we get a lot of wind I'll probably have several more trees to cut up and clean up. I just hope that we either don't lose power or only need to run on the generator for a short period of time. After Helene we were on generator power for right around 24 hours. No rain here today and the forecast predicts clear skies not long before sundown. However, I’m sure that will change quickly overnight.
We’ve been soaked since Saturday in Putnam, hell the fishing pond is already flooded my parent property as of yesterday got standing water about 6 inches deep across all 4 acres.
I’m trying to figure out what the expected wind speeds are going to be for Putnam. We’re all in mobile homes so not really feeling good about this one.
What is with this recent American phenomenon of toilet paper hoarding triggered by the prospect of a natural disaster or any short period of hardship? It’s bizarre.

Is your mobile home anchored? I was under the impression it was a requirement. I’ve seen some which had metal straps over the top and connected to long augers. Frame tie-downs have been mandated for a long time, but the building code didn't require roof/wall upload protection until 2020 I believe. Here's the latest projection. ![]()
When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.
I really hope folks in FL are taking this seriously and getting away from evac zones. How many times do people need to see idiots who stayed home only to either die or put others at risk trying to rescue them before they get the freaking memo? Get. The. F. Out.
I have seen clips where people are leaving for GA, SC and NC which is encouraging but you still have those stubborn ones who refuse to leave. The folks in WNC were caught completely off guard because what hit them was a specific set of circumstances that led to the 'perfect storm.' Floridians in the path of this have no excuse. It’s bizarre. I heard that the dockworker strike was also contributing to this. People are weird. I also laugh at the ones who stock up on milk and bread before the storms come, if we lose power that stuff is the first to go bad. This storm illustrates the very serious limitations of EVs and why they'll never be a viable option in some parts of the country. They're great for a second car, but when it's time to get out of Dodge in a hurry, give me a gas-powered car.

It’s got the hurricane ties under the house but it’s an older home from 2004 so not up to the most recent standards. Guess we will find out they’re telling us winds hurricane force for sure in Palatka and bostwick
90 mph winds headed for my business in SWFL if this thing stays on current track and strength forecast
Spent 2 days prepping everything I could with a skeleton crew and headed for safer ground 3 hours away Took me two weeks to rebuild the outdoor concert space and stage after Ian Hoping this one is kinder to us
