Hurricane Milton

So the latest update from NOAA came in at 11:00 EST rather than 12:00 EST as I was expecting.  The projected track now shows it possibly making land fall south of Sarasota, but it's course has moved more northerly at 35 degrees and 17 MPH.  Better news is that wind speeds are "down to" 145 MPH sustained with a central pressure of 931 MB which indicates weakening.  It's still a category 4 storm at this point and hopefully it weakens down to category 3 before hitting land.

Next update according to NOAA's website should come in at 1:00 PM EST.

Meyers).

I'm from Bradenton, my family is scattered from there up the East Bay to Gibsonton. Lots of people displaced today.

Stay safe guys. The tornados look crazy right now and this is before the hurricane.

Look after yourselves and your loved ones.

Latest update shows it still slowing down and losing strength.  It is now a category 3 storm according to NOAA.

Watching the local news out of Jacksonville is a joke.  Every station is reporting and acting like a major category 5 is on a direct path to the city.

So far here in Melrose we have just had rain all day pretty much non-stop, no wind to speak of.  I expect that to change later on tonight, but I don't think that we will get near the damaging winds that I was expecting.  Hopefully we don't lose power.

I threw the tiny umbrella out of my drink, so I should be okay. I do however worry about you guys, and my family in Ft. Myers. My favorite vacation spot is Anna Maria Island. Not looking good there. Please error on the safe side for all of you that are in the path, or vicinity.

For anyone looking for a movie tonight, I recommend The Hurricane Heist.

I’m here in the West Palm Beach area, Wellington to be exact. We just had a tornado touchdown and destroy some areas not more than 3 miles from our house. A bunch of neighbors were outside they saw it and filmed it. Pretty insane as we weren’t expecting too much but those early bands came with a lot of tornadoes in this area. Stay safe everyone.

Watching Jim Cantore standing in a foot of water that's rushing into a parking garage...

... and he's about 9 miles from my business

The building and outdoor event space we lease is not right by the harbor like he is thankfully, but they just lost power and we are next door to a designated FEMA rally point owned by the county that has its own power feed that is not on the main grid. We piggyback off of their feed, so we never lose power in these storms.

But we just did

Nervous about what I'll find tomorrow if the roadways allow me to get back in there.
