I'm kinda confused. I keep getting told CJ Stroud is much better than Trevor yet last night when he has WR's injured and gets sacked 8 times he was11/30 for 191 yds 0 TD's with a lost fumble and loss to a hapless Jets team they just lost to the Patriots.

Surely he should be able to overcome all those things, surely he should elevate people around him, surely if he was truly elite he'd find a way to win a game like that.

Or maybe it doesn't matter how good a QB you are if your running for your life, under constant pressure and have no time to get settled and in rhythm.

This only applies to everyone but Trevor. He’s not allowed to have excuses (legitimate reasons)

Also, there’s the simple fact that CJ was overhyped last year and just not as good as people said. I said over and over he got lucky a lot last year and his performance was overblown. He’s still a good QB, but he’s not top 5 like everyone tries to make him out to be. At least not yet.

I know it comes off as rival fan talk but I do agree with you. He had a great year but my argument was he's playing in a Shanahan system. It's currently making Purdy look a top 10 QB. It's such a QB friendly system and it's just finding your open guy. Now teams have got tape and their schedule has stepped up they are hitting walls. 

If he had gone to the Panthers I think he'd be just a bit better than Bryce Young right now. He's been lucky to land in a good spot for him and has played well but I think there's other reasons for his success than just him.

And your also right about the Trevor excuses. But then I'm a Trevor coddler!!

I think Stroud is good. And a better pro than Young. But where a rookie QB ends up in terms of organization, coaching, culture, etc.... is so vastly underappreciated. If you tell me you already appreciate the importance it's still not enough. It can make or break a career. I'd argue it's just as important as the raw talent of the QB.

Even a guy like mahomes. Yes he is Uber talented. But Andy Reid took over a chiefs with one winning season in 6 years and instantly turned them into a perennial double digit wins per year and playoff team. And then 5 years later mahomes shows up and puts them over the top. If he ended up at least 20 other places, he likely doesn't have any rings.

Back on topic. Young got screwed and Stroud landed in a great spot for him. All things equal I still think stroud is better but never underestimate where a qb lands. So vastly important.

The tinhorns have not yet made it to their murderers row of their 1st place schedule as well. They just lost to the Jets. They get the Lions next weekend but between the 15th - 25th of December they play three games. 

Dolphins, Chiefs and Ravens. None of which will be easy for them I think. It's a shame we couldn't make it interesting this year with the team. 

To keep it on topic though. Lawrence is stuck with a team that's sandbagged him more than he's sandbagged them. Just waiting on the chopping block party to get started next month already.

Yeah. I don't see how he survives the end of the year. If you're firing Pederson and his staff you have to also send Baalke and his scouting department packing. 

The best thing Khan can do for himself is follow exactly what Josh Harris has done in Washington. Your first step as an owner is admitting you have a problem, a weakness. That it's okay to delegate responsibilities above your realm of expertise. 

Hire a consultant team or firm. Let them do the work you cannot do. Stay out of their way and cut the checks needed to make the best decisions based on their analysis and just move on from there. 

He needs an EVP, General Manager and Coaching Staff all on the same page, all hired at the same time and all cut from the same cloth. No more Frankenstein's. No more miscreated monsters.

In a weird way, all the struggles we've put Trevor through (Urban, Oline, injuries etc) has shown he can play through adversity. You see QB's who look great in the good times but really struggle when thrown challenges. Trevor has shown he can fight through the challenges, we just need to give him more good times and chances to be the difference maker in big moments and games.

Very cheeky and very, very off base and taken completely out of context. His SITUATION is becoming similar to Jason Campbell's time with Washington. Due to bad ownership and consistent changes with the coaching staff, he never had a chance really to exceed expectations. This is how I view Lawrence's situation. Nowhere in that post I made stated that he's physically, mentally or statistically the same as Jason Campbell. Nice try though... 

Campbell went from Gibbs to Zorn and he had four different offensive coordinators I believe in four years there. Lawrence went from Meyer to Pederson and it feels like this is his third or fourth "technical" offensive play calling change in his fourth year. There's always been an identity crisis here for Lawrence. 

We can't seem to do anything right consistently and we expect Lawrence to dig the team out of a hole that they put themselves in.

It's fine to take a look but he shouldn't be throwing it deep that much.

The Jags are looking to throw deep on about 25-30% of their passes. 

They have passed out of play action 62 times out of 243 attempts. 
And that's when most of the deep balls have happened. 

Lawrence is 11th in the league in yards per attempt. (7.9) 

None of this suggests that they are forcing anything. Not even close. 

The only issue with their new and improved play action game is that the OL can't always hold up long enough to get the throw out cleanly.
