I know I'm going to be the biggest [BLEEP] HOLE on this board for saying it... But I think ETN is suffering from some CTE...

His post game interview after the clot win when Tank exploded onto the scene was hard to listen to.  I wish they'd give ETN less reps this season and let his head clear up a bit...  We clearly rode him waaaay too hard for 3 seasons.  I feel really bad for him.  He's a good RB.  But he's clearly not the same, and I think it's something to do with all the head on contact he's endured since his rookie season.

(I'm ready to get flamed.  It's just something I noticed, I hope I'm wrong, BTW)
Well, he had zero head on contact his rookie season because he injured his foot and missed the whole season. He’s really only played 2 1/2 seasons as a starter, so I hardly think we’ve rode him waaaay to hard.

We have a good situation with ETN and Bigsby currently. Let's not mess it up. we have enough to do now.

Maybe that's fair market value, but man I'd really need a 3rd to feel good about it.  4th and 6th rounders just have such a very low likelihood of becoming stars in this league.  ETN is down a bit this year sure, but it doesn't appear to be an over the hill type down to me.  It appears to be some unfortunate events occurring for him coupled with fewer opportunities to make up for it with the emergence of Tank, him missing some games due to injury and us getting into negative game scripts pretty early.  This is a league where you probably should have 2 good running backs rostered which I think we currently have.  I'm not overly excited to be creating another need that may or may not get filled next year and definitely not getting any extra excited over a 4th rounder for a guy that's under contract through next year and might contribute to a comp pick anyway if we allow him to walk.

If there’s any position of value in the 4th thru the 6th round it’s running back. If I was drafting I’d probably take a running every year in the later rounds because you can never have too many fresh running backs on cheaper rookie contracts.

I know you hated the pick.  But I thought he was special.  He proved it his 2nd and 3rd years.  But I'm beginning to think you're right, we shouldn't have taken a RB in the late 1st round that year...

I'm a huge ETN fan.  I just hate how it's turned out since he showed so much potential in 2022 and 2023...

Unbelievable. I just seen an interview with him like yesterday or the day before where he was super excited to finally get to play.

Also remember he's 34. His prime and best years are long, long behind him.

Cooper Hodges is toast. 2 years on IR - not going to recover. Going to need a complete overhaul of the O-line next offseason.

Yeah, I just felt bad for him. Nothing to lose with letting him play. Our safety’s are meh this year.

Tough. He was a favorite around here.

He had a knee cap dislocation last year and what looks like a lower leg fracture this year. Neither of those make him toast at all.

They wanted to trade Kirk off to Pittsburgh and Scherff away to another team but due to injuries they can't do it now.

And, again, just like the Cam trade. These decisions all feel like they're a year too late.

Trade deadline 2 hours away. Are we going to make any moves? Is the FO satisfied with this roster?

Loserville is to dumb to make anymoves, and if we do  anything we will trade away a top player on our team for a 2026th draft pick. we might even be dumb enough to trade for a 6th round pick in 2028.

I hate this front office as much as anyone. But what move can we possibly make?  There's nobody on the roster (that is healthy) that we can trade other than ETN that has any value.  And there is nobody we can trade for that will turn this dumpster fire around.

We just need to embrace the suck, at this point.  There's nothing we can do than just run out the string.  Good news, if this continues on as is, we're in line for a top 2 pick!!!

He was the team's highest rated player according to PFF. I expect him to become a starter next season at one of the guard spots. He needs to work on pass blocking, but he is a powerful run blocker- something the team needs.

Availability is sometimes the best ability though. I would be eyeing at least two guards right now with two of those draft selections in RD3 and RD4 next year. I would also look at guys that can player Center leaving college now that I can move into guard as rookies if needed.

Jaeden Roberts out of Alabama
D.J Campbell out of Texas
Luke Kandra out of Cincinnati
Bryce Foster out of Kansas
Jake Slaughter out of Florida
Seth McLaughlin out of Ohio State
Jake Majors out of Texas

Any combination of those guys RIGHT NOW would be an ideal start and upgrade for this team.

First, we aren't a player away.
Second, the only trade that would make sense on a cellar-dweller team would be a rental of a young guy to see if he fits the long term plans (like we did with Ezra a few years back).
Third, we had nobody of value available to other teams that would have merited sending them off. Our best chips were hurt and wouldn't pass a physical, nullifying any deal we made.

There was nobody on the market this season that fit the second category, and we already have so much youth on the team that needs a good, long look to see if they need to be part of the plan moving forward.
