I could see the Browns taking Jeanty and that m8ght be the best pick for them if they don't take a QB. Jeanty would be great behind the Browns oline and I could see him possibly carring the Browns to the playoffs (11-12-2024, 12:50 AM)jaglou53 Wrote:God I hope someone is still stupid enough to take a RB in the top 10.(11-11-2024, 09:23 PM)StrayaJag Wrote: Are the cowgirls or someone desperate enough to trade up for Ashton jeanty?

The guy you say you want at GM was in on taking a RB at 12 and a off the ball LB at 18. 2 things you cry about. The good thing about Agnew is he comes from a program that goes BPA, something you don't like (11-12-2024, 12:50 AM)jaglou53 Wrote:(11-11-2024, 09:23 PM)StrayaJag Wrote: Are the cowgirls or someone desperate enough to trade up for Ashton jeanty? Ashton Jeanty probably has Jerry Jones salivating already. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. The subtle tongue, the sophist guile, they fail when the broadswords sing; Rush in and die, dogs - I was a man before I was a king." I think it would be more likely for the Cowboys to be trading up for Travis Hunter. Unfortunately, they resigned Dak to that big contract already, or I could have seen Jerry totally going for broke by trading up to draft Shedeur Sanders and hiring Deion as Head Coach. You know that Williams is dog dung and spends more time suspended than on the field. That if all things were equal and if both are coming out this year, the positional value favors JW. The only reason you feel justified taking an RB at 12 over a WR at 12 is that you know how the past few seasons have played out. Didn't think I'd have to define hindsight, but here we flippin are. WITHOUT HINDSIGHT YOU DON'T KNOW THAT. THAT IS THE TEXTBOOK DEFINITION OF HINDSIGHT. It's like arguing with a rutabaga. So the guy with 1600 scrimmage yards and 15TD was less an impact player than the guy with 1370 and 10. Amazing.

Williams was a one trick pony in college and he’s still a one trick pony in the NFL, I mentioned that plenty of times in the pre draft process . Your first problem is just looking at stats when eventuating talent coming into the NFL. You keep saying hindsight like Gibbs is a better player and would be the better pick. So if both were coming out now in hindsight Gibbs would be the better pick? (11-14-2024, 08:30 AM)flgatorsandjags Wrote:(11-13-2024, 12:52 PM)We Mikey Wrote: WITHOUT HINDSIGHT YOU DON'T KNOW THAT. If you cannot see why the statement "If Jameson Williams and Jamyj Gibbs came out in the same draft you would take Williams. Thats what you call stupid" is only valid with the benefit of hindsight, I fear there is too much to explain about need, positional value, or even statistics to clarify the issue. Not to mention Jameson was also coming off an injury. You keep bringing up hindsight, so [BLEEP] hindsight. Who would you take right now who would be the better pick right now being both are healthy?
It's funny to think the Lions are stupid though and then wanting their assistant GM
Interesting articles today in the Athletic regarding the odds of teams picks 1st and who they should select. The Jaguars are rated 5th in the race to pick #1. Their chances are a slim 9%, however that is totally dependent on whether Lawrence returns this season. The Raiders are considered the favorite at 30 % and it's quite possible that they won't win another game. Of course, the Jaguars play both the Raiders and Titans at the end of the season and would be favored over each if Trevor returns. As I've said before, at this point the best long-term thing for the team would be to lose out enabling them to have the number 1 pick. Admittedly, it is terribly difficult to pull against the team you love- but winning a few more games this season would do nothing to help the team in 2025 and beyond.
Regarding the best choice for the pick, the writer (Nick Baumgardner) recommends the Jaguars select Travis Hunter. It is difficult to argue with that recommendation since I could envision Hunter playing corner opposite Campbell giving them one of the best duos in the NFL. Due to Hunter's unique talents, he could also be utilized as a receiver on critical passing downs. Imagine having to stop both him and Thomas with Engram as a 3rd option. The Jaguars might still have a shot at Hunter if they pick in the top 5. The only other team in the top 5 likely to take Hunter would be the Titans and the winner of their game on December 29 would likely determine which team has the higher pick. If the Jaguars do end up with the first pick, there's a good chance they'd get an offer from a quarterback needy team like the Giants, Raiders or Jets that would be to hard to pass up. This would enable them to get an additional number 1 pick next season (likely top 15) and still have the opportunity to draft a great player like Huner or Will Johnson in the first round. The article also mentioned that the Jaguars would be the most desirable destination for a new coach and general manager due to having a potential elite quarterback in Lawrence. |
