I think adding the new score board is the greatest acquisition so far. Yeah it ain't built yet, but I'm sure it's gonna be a future HoF screen. Count on it!

The best move this season isn't the Seattle players since they wanted to come here because of the head coach. I equate the "best" move with one that didn't fall into his lap. Last year it was Sen Derrick Marks. I'd say at this point his best move was either Gerhart or Tandon Doss.

It's the Dead zone my friend. We need something to discuss.

Quote:He's been a tremendous failure because how we used him. That potential we drafted him for is still there and he is still young, I for one hope he pans out because he was a model professional here, never complaining here what so ever, even when we threw him in 1 (maybe 2) years earlier with a complete an utter weetabix oline!
Excuses.  Until he has proven he can play in the NFL he has been a huge bust.

He was chosen in the top 10.  Teams who need a Qb don't sit their top 10 Qb's very long

Okay, I want to change my answer to this.  ^^^^^

Caldwell did not use big signing bonuses.   That means no cap hit from cutting any of these guys before their contracts are up.

So true.  Would anyone have predicted SenDerrick Marks' contribution last April?

Still... dead zone speculation time is in full swing.  So - I'll guess Beadles.  I think planting a solid vet next to Joeckel may turn out to be a good step forward in building the o-line. Clemons will show up on the box-score more though.

Best move will be Mack if it gets done.

That depends on how the deal is structured.  It doesn't take any special talent to simply offer more money than the other guy.

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

Regardless of the player or players that were signed or considered the best signing, the best part is finally seeing this organization start being aggressive during free agency.. Love Wayne Weaver, but in my opinion, his passive ownership was doing nothing but keeping this franchise in the basement..

Well we have been active is FA before, but at the cost of overpaying for sub par talent. The best part of this regime is going after the right guys for the right price.

Caldwell hired Gus... so all the positives that come along with Gus can also be indirectly credited to Caldwell.

I absolutely agree that New scoreboards are exciting but Forum topic is asking about Gm David Calwell. Khan and Mark Lamping are responsible for New Scoreboards not Dave Caldwell. Go Jaguars

I don't have a grade so to speak on the moves made so far because we haven't had an opportunity to see any production. However, that does not mean I don't have a feel for them.

For me, I love the Hood signing. I liked this guy at Missouri and I always felt that Pittsburgh really did not use him to his best abilities. Furthermore, if Hood turns out to be a productive player, it means that Caldwell has the ability to really digest a player's game tape and see what he can do even when he is not being put to the best use. I would love for that to be the case because it means that Caldwell has yet another tool in his Evaluator's pocket.

Bryant and Clemons simply made sense; they were looking to extend their career a bit, and why not go to a place where they already knew the system?

Gerhart caught me off guard but the more that I thought about it, the more reasonable it became. I equate the philosophy behind signing Gerhart to signing Henne; you bring him in to give you flexibility and to fill a hole. Granted, RB is much more amenable to rotation during a game than QB is, but that will just work in Gerhart's favor. He's already used to working in a rotation, so even if you draft a RB this season, it shouldn't be an obstacle.

Watson is going to be very interesting because for the first time the team is going to have a high-quality athlete at LB. I'm going to have a lot of fun watching what they do with him when he's on the field.

This mentality is dangerous. Not that you or I actually affect the GM's decisions but stating that the team should sign a player and "I don't really care what it takes" can lead to big time disappointment. I don't care if the guy is the reincarnation of Mike Webster, no Center is worth a huge chunk of the team's Salary. I would love for Mack to be here, but it's got to be at the right price.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

I like the Watson signing because of cost and fit.

I like Gerhart too. I think he is going to put up better numbers than most people are expecting.
