It has nothing to do with being complicated.  You propose an excellent rule change if you want to see more fights.

Not on that particular play, but I think there are a ton of plays where a player would love to retaliate but don't because they don't want a penalty.  It's not complicated.

We all know games are won and lost in the trenches. We definitely need upgrades and a better system to get run blocking and pass protection but we also need some guys to make plays when we have time. Gabe has been poor, Kirk can't stay healthy and we are counting on depth chart guys to make big plays.

Even more important to give your QB consistent time to throw.

Belichick won consistently with nobodies at WR (minus Randy Moss). The three things he had consistently were a good o-line, Tom Brady, and a good run-stuffing d-line. Now, I think that last part has changed, but it makes sense. Beat our best player. I don't know if Trever can be that guy anymore, but he should have been.
