This is one of the softest teams I've ever seen. I am still debating in my mind what is worse- the second half vs texans with zero passion/anger/energy or the 52-6 loss against Lions. The immediate response was great, but truly expected the defense to make some big hits, maybe an unnecessary roughness, a late hit out of bounds. Something? Anything. Don't believe Stroud was even touched in the second half. You can do things within the rules to retaliate without it being cheap shots where the intent is injury, which I'd never advocate for. No QB is going to be a superstar when the rest of the team doesn’t pull its weight. Why do people still believe a potentially great QB can balance out terrible coaching and bad team play? They definitely need that, but I honestly don't know what EVP/GM/HC option out there would provide that.
I guess they could go against grain and try a special teams guy. There are a number of extremely highly regarded guys around the league like Rich Bisaccia and Dave Toub. It is hard to evaluate them because they are pure culture guys, and you have heavily interview people who worked with them to truly understand their process and people skills. Plus even more than the defensive coaches above, they have to have the top 3 choices and pipeline plan in place for both DC and OC.

I prefer an offensive HC truly (for Trevor's sake), but I could get on board with Vrabel because I'd feel like he'd have an instant hatred to the tacks, that would absorb into the team. He's a guy who understands division rivalry too, I mean yesterday the tinhorns take out our franchise qb and they have been pissing in our cheerios for years and it was like nothing happened in the second half. You got Doug publicly calling out Jarrian Jones in a post game interview, like dude what? I'm sick of drives stalling on 3rd and short, can't ever pick those up. Comes down to physicality up front, which we literally have zero of. There are no leaders on this team, it's pretty obvious. Just wasting Trevor imo. Before that injury, Trevor was playing mediocre, but again the run game was non existent. It may of been just rust that was shaking off, but we'll never know. I'd be very surprised if Trevor plays again this year, but he is a very tough player, he might. If a miracle happened and Baalke was fired, next GM needs to find dogs for this team. BTJ got that dog in him, but it's going to be taken away if he continues to absorb this soft as charmin attitude the Jags have. Stop wasting years of Trevor, he is regressing, so if a choice like Vrabel was chosen I hope he would come with a very innovative OC. That's what was so bad about the hit. It's been this way for years. QB's scramble then slide going for the 1st down line and you cant touch them. D players know that most QB's aren't going to try and run them over. D players usually move out the way or just play by the rule, let them get the 1st down and focus on the next play. It's midway through the 2nd Q, plenty of game left to play. What was ridiculous was the way he led with the forearm while crouching and exploded into Trevor while he was sliding. It was so obvious he wanted to drill him and his shoulder. That's why this whole 'never meant to hurt him' nonsense is frustrating. This wasn't a bang bang football play where one guy unfortunately gets injured. He made a play that was only ever going to injure the QB. We show less advertisements to registered users. I won't be satisfied unless he is suspended the remainder of the year. Send a message.

I would take Vrabel for sure. He got a ton out of nothing with the titans.
I don't know all that much about Coen, anyone know why he only lasted one year as OC with the Rams? With Vrabel I think it's all about who he brings in as an OC.

Just rewatching the highlights from yesterday. Trevors face when he's sat on that cart. Looks like a guy that's so pissed off and just had enough of this season. Kills me seeing our QB looking like that. Hope he just rests up and gets himself ready for next year.
What an absolutely [BLEEP] season this year has been. Just one of those years you write it off and focus on next season. What bad luck on a disgusting cheap shot. (12-02-2024, 05:02 PM)H8tank Wrote: I won't be satisfied unless he is suspended the remainder of the year. Send a message. When considering this you have to flip it around and say, what would you want if it was your player who did the cheap shot on their team as far as suspension. So what if a jag player did this? Just to keep it a little fair.

It's time to part ways in the off season with this entire coaching staff at the minimum. Baalke needs to go as well if we get the same narrative we saw three years ago during the hiring process. The moment Khan starts lining up potential new hires and the first thing that he hears is "I don't want to coach here unless Baalke is gone", he needs to learn from his damn mistake from 2021 and move on from Baalke then. Baalke failed in San Francisco. He's failed with Meyer and now Pederson here in Jacksonville. It's time to admit you made a mistake and move on with fresh blood again. Complacency kills. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. I just can't see anyway there aren't major changes at the top after this season. There's no excuses or explaining this season away. From that Bengals game last year, it has been a complete nosedive and at no point has it seemed to be turning around again. We've had the same basic performances and mistakes from the O and D all season long. They've had good moments in games but at no point have either looked good consistently. You see plenty of teams around the league struggle but you see the teams that are still fighting (Panthers) and the teams that just aren't (Giants). I can see we are trying but we are so far right now from a competitive team. And that's my one hope for Trevor and guys like Walker and BTJ. A fresh start with a new GM, HC, OC, DC and system can hopefully get this team going again. It may be a learning first year and building project for the new staff but I think we are at a point as a fanbase that we can accept a 5-6 W season if it feels like we are building towards something. Some fans are going to have to learn to accept it and not use it as an excuse for another fresh start but i think the majority of Jags fans see the big picture. Just need to be building towards something and not lurching from idea to idea.

And that's how a lot of this year has seemed to have gone for him. Trying to do what he's being told to do and getting negative results most of the time. And even when we makes the game tying drive, we find a way to be on the wrong end. Guy just can't catch a break this year and you can see how much he put into this year from the summer. We've made Trevor have so many obstacles and moments to overcome and learn from since he's been here. Need to start giving him chances to push this team further rather than dragging this team up.

If you believe he did it only to keep from being released I have some swampland for you. (it is dry sometimes on low tide) This is a guy that plays to inflict hurt and injuries on people when the opportunity presents itself. This behavior has no place in the league. Those that support him know what is up and have lost a bunch of respect from me. Stroud would be singing a vastly different tune if it happened to him. DeMeco Ryans knew him in San Francisco and what he was there (ask Tom Brady) and is responsible for him being in Texas. Did he sign him because he wanted this? The response from him on this incident and the others makes me ask the question. It is now not up to him whether he continues to play so we will see how serious the Players Union and the League is about safety. https://www.cnn.com/2024/12/02/sport/hou...index.html and from across the pond. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/nfl/ar...e-nfl.html
