One can make the same argument about the bow and arrow or knife.  Should those also be banned?

Wait until he finds out the people are designed to kill people. That helium balloon on top of his neck will rupture.

I must have the laziest guns in the world...... All they do is sit in my closet all day while I'm out doing what I need to do...... they don't go out and kill anyone.......... Guns don't kill, people do........ It takes a physical act by someone to pull a trigger............ And it's the projectile that comes from the weapon that kills, not the gun unless you beat someone over the head with it..........

You have totally missed the point..... China became a communist state and the communist stay in power because the people have no way to fight back against their government, which is exactly what the founders of this country wanted, the ability of the people to fight, and overthrow the government if they started ignoring the Constitution............ But it sounds like you're a product of the liberal indoctrination system so you were probably never taught that.

Talk about missing the point.... Ninja

Your guns are as lazy as TDOSS's arguments. Probably as old as well.

So much for your "Waiting periods" and "background checks".

I
Fact: Guns prevent an estimated 2.5 million crimes a year or 6,849 every day. 21 Most often, the gun is never fired and no blood (including the criminal’s) is shed.
Fact: Every year 400,000  life-threatening violent crimes are prevented using firearms.

Fact: 60% of convicted felons admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they knew the victim was armed. 40% of convicted felons admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they thought the victim might be armed. 23
Fact: Felons report that they avoid entering houses where people are at home because they fear being shot. 24
Fact: 59% of the burglaries in Britain, which has tough gun control laws, are “hot burglaries” 25 which are burglaries committed while the home is occupied by the owner/renter. By contrast, the U.S., with more lenient gun control laws, has a “hot burglary” rate of only 13%. 26
Fact: Washington DC has essentially banned gun ownership since 1976 27 and has a murder rate of 56.9 per 100,000. Across the river in Arlington, Virginia, gun ownership is less restricted. There, the murder rate is just 1.6 per 100,000, less than three percent of the Washington, DC rate.
Fact: In 1982, Kennesaw, GA passed a law requiring heads of households to keep at least one firearm in the house. The residential burglary rate dropped 89% the following year. 30

Fact: A survey of felons revealed the following: 31
  • 74% of felons agreed that, “One reason burglars avoid houses when people are at home is that they fear being shot during the crime.”
  • 57% of felons polled agreed, “Criminals are more worried about meeting an armed victim than they are about running into the police.”

Strictly Gun Nut propaganda, if you look at the citations.

The USA must be the safest country in the world? Is that your claim?

A Canadian should be aware of the example of neighboring cities of Detroit and Windsor
Tortured and misrepresented statistics are not "facts".

For example, the Kennesaw effort has demonstrated that widely owned firearms do not prevent crime. If the prevalence of firearms in Kennesaw actually did increase in the form of loaded handguns in households, what do you think happened to the accidental injury and domestic violence rates?

Apparently that simple concept cannot be understood by gun nuts so they relentlessly try to equate firearms with vehicles, knives, stairs, swimming pools, or bananas.

So Sneakers, I haven't got a respond yet. Any word yet on when America used to be great and what exactly caused America to not be great?

Nice opinion which you are free to have. Why?  well because of the second amendment.  Your opinion has no backup other than emotion. may want to espouse elsewhere. we see you .....

If by backup you mean evidence to support the idea that firearm prevalence is a net negative for American society? That is well proven.

The Gun Facts "arguments" are pure nonsense. They purport to disprove "myths" by formulating mythical position statements that are not part of the science of public health. Purely strawman arguments. The Gun Fact statements attempt to "disprove" myths by citing opinion and anecdote.

Bad reasoning and worse citation evidence.

"Gun" in those days could have referred to a cannon.
Not sure if they were cool with private citizens owning cannons.

80 years later Wade Hampton III financed and commanded his own Legion throughout the War of Northern Aggression. Private ownership of so called "weapons of war" is our Nation's tradition and honor.

They were either owned by the British Army outright, or pledged to his majesty's service or the service of his majesty's governor.

Starting in the 1770s, many were stolen. Which was a good thing! But then they were pledged to the Continental Army.
