A 1,500 page bill nicknamed "continuing resolution" is before congress to fund the government for the next 3 months. DOGE took a look at it and then took action going public with the opinion it should not be passed. Let's face it, our government has grown quite comfortable burying inside these bills pork. I am beginning to dig through the bill myself looking for the items I have heard that are there. A few of those items buried deep from interviews of media...not verified.
Washington Football team stadium - (why are other teams fans paying for this?) A 3.8% raise per year for congress - it would remove the need for them to vote on future raises. 100 billion on aid to farmers. - While for it they believe this should be in a separate bill. 100 billion for emergency relief. - While for it they believe this should be in a separate bill. There are others more controversial I'll not include here until I see them. Seems both Trump and DOGE want a clean bill with the "extras" removed. I view this as a positive development despite the risk of shutting the government down. https://thehill.com/homenews/house/50475...t-funding/ https://www.reviewjournal.com/opinion/ed...s-3252205/

MAGA representaives have been claiming credit for pork passed by the Dems. A fellow like Musk, might not pork, (Lord knows he doesn't see any if it, lol!) but he doesn't have to answer to constituents. Of course, with his threats to primary roll those who don't follow his orders, we could be headed to a constituency of one. Not a pretty prospect. The mind of a cultist is so strange.
I wanna know who tried to sneak that stadium deal in there!
What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???

I remain in a wait and see how all this DOGE plays out but hiding things in a bill no one has the time to read through completely is something I feel needs to be curbed. Having "clean bills" is a positive step and gets a plus 1 from me.

Dems complain 'President Musk' running the show on GOP spending drama
Lawmakers are scrambling to avoid a government shutdown before heading home for the Christmas and New Year's holidays House Democrats fumed Thursday over the spending bill drama and what they characterized as the outsize influence of Elon Musk and others in President-elect Donald Trump’s orbit, after a bipartisan plan brokered by House Speaker Mike Johnson collapsed just hours earlier. Speaking to reporters outside a leadership meeting on Thursday, House Democrats expressed disappointment in Republicans for walking away from the negotiated argument, and many accused them of appearing to take clues from Elon Musk. Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., labeled the billionaire X owner "President Musk" while speaking to reporters Thursday. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/dems-co...ding-drama ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. The stadium pork was just reported by Fox. So that makes 2 medias. First CNBC and now Fox. I have so far seen the pay increase Exempting members of congress from ObamaCare 1+ billion to rebuild the Francis Scott Bridge that PRIVATE company destroyed. The bridge is privately owned, insured and collects tolls and the private company will continue collecting tolls. A one year extension of some agency that basically censors things I have not seen the stadium yet but still reading. More detail to come. This thing is like reading a stereo instructions. The whole "stadium kerfuffle" started with a conservative [BLEEP] disturber - er, "social media influencer" - Mario Nawfal INCORRECTLY stating that the CR included $3 billion for a new stadium. Musk picked up on this misinformation and spread it further. You know....as your billionaire geniuses do. Nawfal later corrected his post, but by then it was too late....having gone viral under Musk & Co. "But the RFK legislation does not include any federal funding for a stadium. In fact, it prohibits it. The provision only transfers control of the land to D.C. and allows the city to redevelop it for a host of purposes, including a sports stadium. Nawfal later edited the post to remove the $3 billion figure, after it had gone viral."

Rather, the CR called for the land under which the current RFK stadium is built be transferred from federal government ownership to D.C. local government control. Shifting ownership to local D.C. control would allow a new stadium to be built in its place under local redevelopment laws. So, the better question is this: why was the football stadium on federal government property in the first place? For the record, RFK stadium hasn't been used since 2019 and is scheduled for demolition. The Commanders - the Washington, D.C. football team - don't play there (they play at FedEx Field in Maryland). The land deal to D.C. was to bring the team back into D.C. proper. Amazing how easily you are conned Mr "Independent" voter. ![]()

From what I read, the federal government would transfer the land that is under the old RFK stadium in DC from the federal government to the District of Columbia. That doesn't seem like a big deal to me. RFK Stadium site provision included in federal spending bill, a win for Commanders and NFL House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., praised the move as evidence Congress is doing its job to oversee the city. "This landmark legislation will unlock the district's full potential, generate meaningful new jobs, and add millions in additional city revenue for the nation's capital," Comer said in a statement. "Without Congressional action, this land would remain vacant, leaving ongoing maintenance costs and liabilities to burden the American taxpayer. Now is the time to get the federal government out of the way and empower local officials to clean up the RFK site, invest and create new economic opportunities." |
