He's only ever been a decent running back, anyway. Picking him in the first round showed a complete inability to understand positional value, signing him to anything more than a low dollar second contract would be a huge mistake.

Oh, he's got to be gone. He's not a game changer at all, and for a first round RB pick he's a colossal bust.

ETN is a fine player. Put him on a team with an even decent line would make him an upper tier back. Instead he's spent his time here breaking tackles in the backfield at a historic rate. He'll go somewhere good next year and have a Barkley-like resurgence.

Seeing Barkley and Henry having such big years makes me wonder if teams will revalue RB's the next few years. They need to save cap somewhere and teams are happy to burn and churn RB's but they do still have a key role to play in O's. 

Etienne has been really poor this year. He does offer some interesting abilities and has good speed but his bad year and Tank having a solid year means he's probably a tandem RB moving forwards.

They've done better with high draft picks than low draft picks.  Besides, if the owner is smart, we'll have a different GM next year.

That's just false.  It's illogical to believe that owning the 7th overall pick is just as good as the 3rd overall pick.  If nothing else, you can trade down from the 3rd pick to the 7th pick and acquire additional picks.  If you don't think having additional draft picks is an advantage in the NFL, I don't know what to say.  That's just common sense.

Also keep in mind that it affects next year's schedule.  If we win, instead of playing Chicago (4-12) and Cleveland (3-12), we will play Green Bay (11-4) and Cincinnati (8-8).  You don't think one pair of teams is a little tougher than the other?

If you want to get back to the playoffs as soon as possible, a loss today helps our odds.  That's just reality.

That wasn't necessarily the opinion before the season. Saw plenty who thought Philadelphia overpaid for Barkley. I'm not saying Etienne is at their level but only really McCaffrey was seen as a top RB and that's because he could do so much.

I expect the evolution of the RB role and O's evolving to use them more going forwards with young OC's. D's are playing the pass almost every play now so I see the run game as that area to find a way to innovate

A lot of people seem to have trouble understanding that winning teams and eliminated teams aren't playing for the same thing.

The players on the field may still think winning is what they should be playing for, but from an organizational standpoint losing and draft position should be the objective when a team isn't in contention for postseason.

Did you read my post? I wasn't comparing Etienne to them. I was saying the RB market was seen as an easily replaceable part yet seeing guys like Barkley and Henry having such big years may make teams look again at how they are using it.

I never put Etienne with Barkleys level.

That's false.  It's cool to have a higher pick and all but if you have the 7th pick and that is the difference between wins and losses you have the wrong GM.  There will be a very good player there at 7 or 8 and if you can't win in the league with that you shouldn't be in the league.  The 7th or 8th pick might even have a better career than that 3rd pick.  We can win this game and win next year.
